You’ve got a date set for the wedding, you’ve talked about everything you want out of the experience, and now it’s time to plan a reception that you, your partner, and all of your guests will love. How do you go about doing that? Well, we’ve got some ideas about the activities you should put on below. Let’s make this one to really remember!
Have Fun with the Photos
The photos you take at the wedding reception are going to be the main way you’ll remember what went on during your big day, so make sure you have a bit of fun with them. Take plenty of phone selfies with one another, snap some candids of your loved ones when stuffing their face with cake or doing a silly dance, and promote this atmosphere of taking as many silly pictures as possible. Or get a photo booth – there’s a lot you can do with a good photo booth! They’re easy to hire and set up for the night, and people can pop in and out as often as they like, with all kinds of props and accessories to really jazz up the next set of photos they take.
Have a Different Kind of First Dance
The first dance is a pivotal moment in the wedding reception, and when it comes to really cement your union together, this is a symbolic form of coming together. And for some people, that’s just fine! A nice romantic slow dance is just fine, with their friends and family enjoying the music in the background. However, for some, this is far too boring, or it makes them a little too self-conscious. This is why having a different kind of first dance is a great idea. Get everyone involved, and have your own little disco altogether. Or you could dance a completely different style; Tango Music in the background, some practice beforehand, and some fast-paced, creative movements on the dance floor? Yes, please!
Play Some Games
You could also choose to play some games during the wedding reception, to really keep people entertained and paying attention through the night, even if they’re getting a bit tipsy. If you’ve got a wedding marquee and a lawn to make use of, make sure you use that space for more physical games, such as Giant Jenga or Giant Checkers. Or, you could simply set up a game of soccer that the bride and bridesmaids can try out in their heels. It’ll certainly make for some funny memories and some more interesting and silly photos! You could also play some version of spin the bottle, or some kind of dare game; you can find a whole list of ideas about that right here. A wedding reception can include all kinds of things! Just make sure that your reception feels like you, and that you’ll have fun throughout the night.
