Stumbling on your diet – #NSNation

Week after week I’ve had consistent weight loss. I‘ve allowed myself treats and vacation eats, going out to dinner and everything that makes my diet feel like I can still socialize and enjoy myself. But, I don’t know too many people who don’t STUMBLE on their weight loss program.

For me the stumbles usually occur

  • When I hit a weight loss plateau
  • If I get bored and use food to fight the boredom (an old habit)
  • I get food envy, seeing what other people are eating
  • I miss a particular food
  • I get cocky and think that I don’t need to stick with the program anymore
  • A trigger – we all have things that trigger old habits

For me it was a corned beef sandwich. I walked into my favorite deli and ordered it to bring home for my husband and son. Did I mention that they’re both on diets as well and DIDN’T need to be eating corned beef? Then I hit the bakery for some fresh rye bread and headed home….and it began…my stumble (I’ll spare you the rest, let’s just say it included York Peppermint Patties, Chardonnay and other goodies).

Thankfully, it’s only a stumble – not a FALL off the wagon. Without support or commitment to my goal, it could easily have become a full on binge. In the past I would have considered this stumble a #FAILURE and just kept on going. Why didn’t I do that this time?

Nutrisystem has help in place for just these times. Once you sign up for the program, you not only get delicious food that helps you to lose weight at a healthy pace, but you also have access to

A Community – where you can discuss and get support from other people who are going through what you are. It always helps to have a buddy or a place that you can where they KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU’RE DEALING WITH, because they’ve been there.

Chat with NS Members – Nutrisystem has set up a live chat where you can interact with others who are on Nutrisystem like you.

Chat with the Dietitians – each Monday the Nutrisystem dietitians are available to chat with LIVE.

Contact a Counselor – There are always Nutrisystem counselors available to help via e-mail, live chat, or if you’re away from your computer you can always call them on the phone.

With a support system like this in place, your stumble need never become a fall. If you find yourself in that position, just pick up and begin again. That’s what I did, and for the FIRST time I didn’t beat myself up over it. My hashtag is #SUCCESS and not #failure – because I have #NSNation helping me not only by keeping my weight loss program EASY and DELICIOUS, but by supporting me every step of the way.

By the way – on Thursday I weighed in at 131 – another 1/2 lb. lost. Today I was 132, and I’ve eaten:

Breakfast

  • Nutrisystem Banana Nut Muffin

Lunch

  • Red Beans & Rice with turkey sausage

Snack

  • 1 oz low fat cheddar cheese
  • 1 large peach

Yes…I AM back on the program. Maybe I’ll have the Nutrisystem Meatloaf and Mashed Potatoes or one of the Nutrisystem pizza’s for dinner.

Right now Nutrisystem is having their BIGGEST SALE OF THE YEAR. For less than $3 a meal  you can join me and lose weight PLUS get the support that you need to not only LOSE the weight, but keep it off.

My husband and I just started our weight loss journey and are going to a group for support, encouragement and accountability. I think that’s the part that’s going to make us successful this time. I do agree though, a stumble isn’t the end of the world but a hiccup in the grand scheme of things.

I love your attitude – that it’s only a stumble and not falling off the wagon. I look at my unhealthy food choices in the same way – just because I mess up once doesn’t mean that I have to continue to mess up!

I stumble often. I think we all do. I’ve even been losing for a year and occasionally fall back into old habits. It’s a life long struggle.

I also stumble often. Honestly I am stumbling right now. I was running on my treadmill 4 to 5 days a week and doing workout videos. The last 3 weeks I haven’t done much but rake leaves and chase kids. But that treadmill is calling my name again so I will be starting on that again later today.
