I’ll admit that it’s been slow going lately. Still, I dropped another half a pound this week…certainly not the pace I was at a couple of months ago, but a loss is a loss.
The reason many get fall off of the wagon when trying to lose weight is that after a certain amount of loss, we plateau. What’s worse is, that when we HIT that plateau many of us actually see our weight increase TEMPORARILY while our metabolism readjusts.
There are reasons for that (not that I particularly like them), and just knowing that it’s a part of the process helps.
Hunger. Sound like the obvious? This is based in SCIENCE, because when we drop weight the leptin (a hormone that helps us feel FULL) decreases. The reason? Leptin is based in FAT and because you’ve lost some of that dieting and leptin levels can get lower quicker than it should.
Brains. Mine is still thinking “old school” and there are moments when my internal appetite doesn’t make sense, so I did a little research. It turns out that our brains enjoy nothing more than RESETTING to our previous weight by sending out hunger signals.
Less active? At least for me, as I lose weight I tend to get a little more tired. Perhaps it is the fact that as we diet we lose some lean muscle mass along with the fat.
So…if our bodies are sabotaging us is there anything we can do?
Absolutely!
The Nutrisystem program is the PERFECT diet to help get over that hump. Why? Because by keeping the protein levels high enough and the carbs lower our bodies are more satisfied. By pushing ourselves to get out there and exercise, we can help jump start the metabolism, even if it’s just a walk twice a day.
Don’t let all of that hard work you did get undone. Remember that if you need SUPPORT, Nutrisystem is there for you by phone, e-mail or online.
Don’t forget that Nutrisystem right now you can lock in the lowest prices of the YEAR. For less than $3 a meal you can join me and lose weight PLUS get the support that you need to not only LOSE the weight, but keep it off.

A loss is a loss! Congrats. 🙂
I’m three months post-partum and REALLY need to get on track; after the birth of my second son, I lost close to fifty pounds, starting after he was about 7 months (and then ended up pregnant again)…. time to get back in the saddle and work on it!
