Skype Me

There’s nothing like getting a group of friends together.

It seems that we’re always looking for the things that make the life easier, especially since our daily lives are getting faster and so much busier.  While I DO get to do a lot of FAB things for Champagne Living,  the fact remains that so much of my family and dear friends actually live 1700 miles away (some even MORE). Thankfully, the HP envy 8 that HP sent Ben & I to use and review offers me lifestyle support in so many different ways.

My favorite? SKYPE

I can’t imagine what I did before this wonderful invention of not only being able to chat via typing or voice, but to be able to SEE my friends (first thing in the morning – no makeup, still in jammies) and helps me deal with the fact that I live so far away.

Introduction of  Skype

FUN FACT: Skype was created by Estonian developers in August of 2003. Of course it’s come a long way in the past 10 years and while I spent a few minutes teaching my friend Sandy to download it onto her computer, I’m lucky that my Hp envy 8 computer has a great Skype app built into my Windows 8 right on my system.

Bringing us closer

IMG_3554

I come from a generation before cell phones. Now I can’t imaging being without the connection, but Skype takes the connection one step further with an easy to use application that connects with a simple click of the mouse. I can’t imagine not being able to see Lisa and Rachel each morning via my video and complain speak with them via the built in microphone on the computer.  The ability to connect with friends who live such a long distance, yet be sitting beside each other sharing via Skype has really brought us closer.

I may miss my friends, but my HP envy 8 with the Skype app means that distance does not matter whatever it is a short or a long.

How To:

I’m lucky that the HP Envy 8 has Skype built in, so all I do is go to my Windows 8 Tiles and click on the app, for my friends on the other side, t’s a simple download from skype.com. It’s free to use if BOTH parties are skyping (there is a charge for skype to phone), but frankly everyone I know is using it.

I’ve even considered getting rid of my house phone and JUST using Skype and my cell phone (one less expense).

Ben & I both received HP Envy h8 computers to use and review to facilitate a series of posts, including this one. All opinions are strictly our own.

Embarrassing: I am still a Skype novice. Not sure why, I have never been a big phone girl. I think perhaps because my parents never got me a princess phone…

DOWNLOAD it and search for me (or email and I’ll give you my skype name). That way we can talk more often.
