My valentine’s day is Feb. 17th

This year I’ll be far, far away from Mr. S on Valentine’s Day in Los Angeles on a press junket. Of course, we’ll still be celebrating! This Sunday we have tickets to see the Broadway Across America production of Wicked (I bought them for Mr. S as he loves the music), and when I get back we’ll catch a screening of Safe Haven.

Normally, Mr. S gives me a hard time about seeing what he considers “chick flicks,” but he knows how important it is for me to see this one, as I spent some time on set with Nicholas Sparks this summer and I think he just wants me to stop talking about it. I also told him we’d be playing the “Zippy” version of Where’s Waldo, as the group of bloggers who attended had the opportunity to be a party of the crowd in a scene. I’m guessing that I won’t be seen, but at least it will give him a purpose to go without my begging.

An affirming and suspenseful story about a young woman’s struggle to love again, Safe Haven is based on the novel from Nicholas Sparks, the best-selling author behind the hit films The Notebook and Dear John. When a mysterious young woman arrives in a small North Carolina town, her reluctance to join the tight knit community raises questions about her past. Slowly, she begins putting down roots, and gains the courage to start a relationship with Alex, a widowed store owner with two young children. But dark secrets intrude on her new life with such terror that she is forced to rediscover the meaning of sacrifice and rely on the power of love in this deeply moving romantic thriller.
