There’s always ONE (or two or…an entire family). Rolling our eyes as we visit (FILL IN THE BLANK) is as much a part of celebrating the season as fruitcake and having an extra glass of wine to get through the evening. I think that’s why holiday movies that make us laugh are so relate-able.

In my family it’s actually when the cousins get together. We had spent summers together as children. My cousin Susie always reminds me that we wet the bed together when we were little and read Peyton Place with a flashlight under the blanket, up in the loft of our beach house. Over the years we’ve become like sisters, even though we live 1700 miles from each other. Getting together for the holidays means lots of laughter about old times and new.

In the classic tradition of holiday comedies through the years, Love the Coopers looks like one that will become a holiday tradition. With an all-star cast that includes favorites such as: Alan Arkin, John Goodman, Ed Helms, Diane Keaton, Jake Lacy, Anthony Mackie, Amanda Seyfried, June Squibb, Marisa Tomei, and Olivia Wilde I’m preparing for non-stop laughter. It looks like I’ll have plans when I return from Europe…with a big bucket of popcorn, Mr. S, and the Coopers.

LOVE THE COOPERS opens November 13

Love The Coopers follows The Cooper clan as four generations of extended family come together for their annual Christmas Eve celebration. As the evening unfolds, a series of unexpected visitors and unlikely events turn the night upside down, leading them all toward a surprising rediscovery of family bonds and the spirit of the holiday.

  3. Love the Coopers looks like such a funny movie. I celebrate the Holidays at my sister’s house. All the family gets together and celebrates at her house. It is so much fun.

  8. I usually celebrate the holiday at my mother’s home because it is a lot bigger than my apartment!

  12. I celebrate Christmas Eve at my home with my children and family from out of town, Christmas Day we have dinner with my daughter’s in-laws.

  15. We celebrate at our home but invite everyone over. This movie looks so great! I love Diane Keaton.

  16. I use to celebrate it at my sister’s but now that I have custody of all 5 of my kids I celebrate it at home.

  19. Every year we spend Christmas Eve with my husband’s family at our house and Christmas evening with my family at my moms.

  23. Funnily enough we celebrate the Holidays with my ex-inlaws. My daughters grandparents and aunts have adopted me and my “new” family.

  26. We usually spend the morning at our house before going to visit my Dad and siblings and then we go visit my husband’s family!

  33. We go to my parents house. All the kids, grandkids, and great grandkids come. So fun to see everyone!

  35. We all head over to my Nana’s house. We have a big family so there will be a lot of people.

  40. I celebrate the holidays at my parent’s house. It’s a tradition and I so look forward to it each year, there is a big group of us, and it’s a special time of the year.

  41. I celebrate the holidays alternating between my home and my parent’s home. This year is my turn so will be having all the family over for the holidays, I can’t wait for it, and to spend time together. Happy holidays everyone!

  49. We are actually going to mexico on vacation over thanksgiving this year, but usually with family! Xmas will be at my in laws.

  54. I travel 3 hours north to celebrate Christmas with my family and my husbands family. We take turns and do a gathering that works best for all of us. We are the furthest away so they try to work a plan out with us. I can’t wait to see them all again.

  56. We celebrate the holidays at our house the kids travel home. I look forward to seeing the grandchildren and watch their faces light up with excitement.

  57. We celebrate Christmas at my parents house usually, sometimes my in-laws it just depends on if we have family coming in town!

  65. I always celebrate at home because all of the family comes to my house for Christmas dinner.

  70. We celebrate the holidays at home. We use to spend them at my grandmas but she passed away in May. It will be really strange this year not going to her house.

  72. We celebrate the holidays at home with family and friends. When my son was growing up, we used to visit family that lived out of town. 🙂

  75. We celebrate the holidays with family! This year we have 5 destinations – hopefully the weather will cooperate for all of them!
