When it comes to makeup, you need more than just excellent products: you need to have the skills and strategies that help you apply it flawlessly. Without the right knowhow, even the most expensive products will feel like a waste. And one of the most basic things you must learn is the order to apply your makeup. To help, use the step-by-step guide below.
Start with a Clean Face
If you want your makeup to go on nice and smooth, you need a clean slate to start with. So the first thing you should do is clean your face. After you clean your face, you can use a toner to help minimize your pores and keep your skin healthy. Make sure to pat it dry before you move on to anything else.
Next Up, Moisturize
And don’t forget the eye cream. Also, be sure to moisturize your neck and décolletage as well; we tend to neglect the skin in these spots, and as a result, they tend to prematurely age us. Allow the moisturizer to fully dry before moving on to makeup.
Focus on the Face
Now you have cared for your skin; the next step is to make it look its best. If you want to get a professional look, start with primer. Then use foundation or a BB cream for all-over coverage before using spot cream to cover up any blemishes. Use powder to help seal your makeup, and then use blush and bronzer as desired.
Now, it’s Time for the Eyes
Eyeshadow comes first so the powder does not end up in your eyeliner or mascara. Once your shadow is looking great, line your eyes. Finally, put on a layer of mascara. And if you want to take your look further, use some gel on your brows.
Finish with the Lips
Much like with your skin, you should start by moisturizing and then using a primer or lip lock to give your look staying power. Once you do this, you can line the lips and apply color as desired.
For Extra Staying Power, Set it with Spray
If you really want a look that will last, consider using a finishing spray. While it might not be ideal for everyday use, it is a great way to help your makeup stay during special events.
