Whenever a new season is on the horizon, it makes us want to organize our homes and ready ourselves for the changes to come. In the winter, it is usually all about getting warm and cozy, and now with spring on the horizon, we feel ready to come out of winter hibernation and make a few lighter and brighter changes. If you are like us, here are a few suggestions for getting your home ready for spring.
Tick off those maintenance tasks
We all have those maintenance tasks that we know we need to do in our homes. They are things that we keep meaning to get round to, yet never seem to find the time.
You might need to improve the insulation, get the drains cleaned or perhaps it’s repainting the fences. Whatever your tasks are, jot them down on a list and start ticking them off over the next few weeks so that you can move into the new season feeling organized and with your home in good repair.
Cut back the garden
Winter gardening is rarely a tempting option, but as the spring rolls around and shoots start coming up, we are itching to get back out there.
To ensure that you can enjoy spending time out in the garden during the warmer months now is a good time to cut back and deadhead any shrubs and flowers.
It is also a great time to tidy up out there, raking up any leaves and putting in place any furniture and pots.
Refresh your rooms
Take a look around and think about what you would like to do to refresh and re-energize those rooms.
You might want to redecorate a room or two, or perhaps you could consider adding new linen or soft furnishings to a room to give it a new look and feel.
This one is a fun task to tackle, so pick the room that you least love at the moment, and work your magic so that you can fall in love with it all over again.
Stock up on a few little extras for yourself
Is there a more enjoyable shopping trip than one where you treat yourself to a few little things for your home? We think not.
Now is a good time to stock up on a few of those extras, and dot them around your home. Perhaps the gadget-loving amongst us will grab a LEpro smart light bulb, or you might want to refill your magazine stand with the latest spring editions. You might want to pick up a few seasonal candles or fresh flowers to brighten your table.
Have a spring clean
Well, we couldn’t miss this one off, could we?
This does seem to be the season that calls for some deep cleaning, and we can understand why. As we shrug off the colder months, we can start to throw open our doors and windows and with the lighter days, we like to clean out every nook and cranny.
You can tackle this one all in one go, or go for the easier option of adding one extra task to your normal routine for the next couple of weeks and you will soon have everything covered.
