How to Eat Less and Eat Healthier Without Really Trying

Dieting is hard work. Sure, it doesn’t take much physical effort, but the willpower and planning it needs can drain you. So, if there are simple changes you can make that will help, why not go for them?

Believe it or not, there are some very simple tricks you can use so you eat less and eat healthier without really trying. Check out a few of them below.

Start with Water

If you fill up on water, you won’t be as hungry when you start to eat. This is a great way to trick your body into wanting less while also ensuring you are getting the hydration you need. Just be sure to stick with water and no other drinks, which tend to have lots of sugar and additives.

Use Smaller Plates

When your plate is smaller, you put less food on it, and when there is less food on your plate, you eat less—just don’t go back for seconds. Try using a side plate rather than a dinner plate, and a dip bowl rather than a soup bowl. This is a very easy change to make.

Purchase Portion Plates

This might make you think of children’s plates, but once you get past that, it can be very helpful. Use the largest section for your veggies, and then use the smaller two sections for meat and carbohydrates. This ensures you eat more of the good stuff and less of the stuff that makes you gain weight.

Chew More

It sounds like something we would tell the kids, and probably have a few thousand times, but chewing your food more will slow you down. By giving your body more time to digest, you give your brain more time to receive the signals saying you are full. This way you will stop eating once you have had enough, rather than feeling bloated when you are done with your meal.
