As many of you know I made some major life changes in the past year. First and foremost I took control of what I could: Work and Myself. I started by quitting my job and began freelancing, and I also decided it was time to get fit. I just purely didn’t want to die fat and unhappy (not that the two are mutually exclusive but…you know). I want do die just happy (the fat thing could work in my favor later in life because good food makes me happy).
Whenever someone I know approaches me and they bring up my weight loss and ask “how I feel about it” I tend to change the subject to my profession. It’s more important to me and was a lot harder to do (and is still a constant pain to me). With weight loss there are steps to get it done (eat right and exercise…done) with business, things aren’t so cut and dry. There is no set plan for business, you constantly have to learn change and adapt.
When I began my weight loss journey, I believed in the Nike slogan (just do it), but a year later (now that I have surpassed my goals) I no longer consider it an apt motivator. It has however, become more of a slogan for work, while my new slogan for weight loss has change to:
“Don’t Do It.”
Just do it – you can work for yourself
Just do it – do things the way you know they need to be done
Just do it – learn from experiencing, not what a boss tells you
Just do it – don’t be scared
Don’t do it –because it’s a social norm
Don’t do it – to get laid
Don’t do it – to be something you’re not
Don’t do it – because anyone tells you you’re not good enough
