I can think of about 100 reasons, but did you know that a spa is not only a FUN way to spend the day, but it’s GOOD for you too? At first glance, a day at the spa sounds downright indulgent. Taking a day to yourself to be pampered sounds like an unnecessary expense to many people (not me of course). When you think about it, your health and mental well-being are what drives your day to day success. So why wouldn’t you want to set aside some special me-time to service your body, mind and spirit?
The benefits of spa treatments go well beyond temporary happiness. Spas provide relaxation, relieve pain, induce mental clarity and even provide significant health benefits. It’s time to unplug, surrender your cell phone and partake in some time honored spa rituals that will have you refreshed and ready to take on the world!
Anything involving heat, water or massage will help release tension, alleviate stress and cure aches and pains. All of these treatments, massages, steam baths, hot stones and more, will also increase blood circulation and reduce blood pressure. These are serious health risks that you are helping to reduce just by spending a day at the spa.
I recently had the opportunity to spend a week on board a wonderful cruise ship that traveled from one European country to the next. It has an incredible 2-story spa, that I made it a point to take advantage of. While I may have been onboard to work, the spa made my stay absolutely relaxing.
The spa that I went do like many spas included treatments for detoxification of the skin or body. Removing toxins from your body can eliminate bloating and water retention. Many of the spas that I’ve visited include classes, lectures or pamphlets that will help you keep up your detox at home or have other advice on health living, so your experience doesn’t have to end when you walk out the door.
The beauty treatments at day spas help you gain self-confidence and recharge the batteries of your self-esteem. It may be psychological, but many women feel empowered and confident after the simple act of having a manicure or pedicure done. Facials that rejuvenate the skin can make you feel more refreshed and ready to face anything that comes your way. I know that when I look in the mirror and see myself with glowing skin, that I feel WONDERFUL.
A day at the spa allows you to live in the moment and celebrate the beauty of you. The physical and psychological benefits of spa treatments are overwhelmingly positive, making them well worth your time and money. Is something that reduces stress, cures pains, increases blood circulation and refocuses your mind simply an indulgence?
Try a day at the spa and find out for yourself!
