Among the wonderful things that I get to do with Champagne Living (aside from being able to be friends with YOU – which is the BEST perk of all), is to travel, go to elegant events and stretch my sites beyond the mansion. In a week and a half I’ll be tripping the red carpet (and hopefully not falling flat on my face) with the folks from Disney/Dreamworks as I get to attend the premiere of Stephen Spielberg’s War Horse at Avery Fisher Hall (yes..LINCOLN CENTER).
If you’ve been following me for sometime, you’ve seen some of the videos that I do. Many of them have photos hanging on the wall in the background and if you look closely, you’ll see horses. LOTS of horses. WHY? Because my family (dad, grandparents) owned thoroughbreds. I spent my young days going to the stalls in the early morning to help feed, water and walk the horses and then the afternoons sitting on the rail listening to the thunder of hooves as they raced by at tracks like Narragansett, Suffolk Downs, Hialeah, and more. The smell of hay and the sounds of the racetrack, the numbers changing on the tote-board and the losing tickets littering the ground are all part of my youth. Needless to say…I LOVE HORSES. I even RODE my first racehorse (along with jockey Lou Masserelli) at the age of about five or six.
So, to say that I’m excited to be among the first to screen War Horse is an understatement. This classic wartime tale of the bond between a man and his horse during World War I is one that I hear is going to tug at a few heartstrings. I’ll be bringing you ALL of the red carpet details, movie review and more in early December. I hope that you’ll join me on this trip to New York via twitter (follow: #DisneyDreamworksEvent), facebook and of course Champagne Living.
A HUGE thank you to Disney/Dreamworks for sponsoring this trip. I hope you follow along from December 3 – 5 and when I get back with ALL of the excitement.
