Summer is almost gone, and that means that you need to make the most of what we have left of this glorious season. One way to do this? Hosting an outdoor party! The weather hasn’t yet cooled enough to make you head indoors, and it is the perfect way to celebrate the close of the season. Below are some tips to help you make this celebration all that it can be.
Embrace the Transition
We are so close to fall, and many of us are very excited for the season. So one way to make the most of your party is to embrace the two seasons. Look for dishes that use fall ingredients in a way that is fresh and light, blending summer with autumn. Decorate using earthy colors, and just generally embrace the spirit of the season. Pizza on the grill is ALWAYS a favorite around here. It’s easy and tastes so much better than ordering out. Let guests create their own personal pizza by laying out fresh vegetables, sauces, cheese and meats along with your homemade dough.
Go Rustic
From food to drinks to décor, rustic is key. In fact, rustic recipes and décor have been pretty popular for a while now, which means your party will be on point. There are so many ways that you can incorporate this, and you will not doubt have a blast planning. And keep in mind that rustic can still be fun and beautiful.
Give Wine the Center Stage
Summer is all about fruity drinks and beer, so opting for wine is a great way to move from summer into fall. My choice for an autumn get together is JaM Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon. I found it at my corner Winn-Dixie and also at Trader Joe’s, you can easily find where to pick it up at JaMCellars.com/WineFinder.
I like to have all three varieties of JaM Cellars everyday California wines available for my guests.
Made in the tradition of great California winemaking—rich, bold and luscious, you’ll never make a “wine mistake” if you pick up all three of these for your party:
- Butter Chardonnay
- JaM Cabernet – This cab is my JaM!” best at under $20
- Toast Sparkling
Opt for Evening
Since it is cooler in the evenings, it is easier to embrace some of those fall aspects that people have been craving. You can build a fire in the fire pit, roast marshmallows, wear sweaters, and more. Still, it is warm enough that no one will be shivering either.
