Like the title says, I used to think that brewpubs were places for men. Why did I think that? Well, I guess for various reasons. When I saw them on TV, they were always filled with men, and while the word “bar” makes me think of a place where men and women gather, the word “pub” always struck me as a place for the guys to be guys.
Then I actually went to a brewpub, and I realized I was wrong. Very wrong. And ever since, I have made it my mission to enjoy brewpubs in cities across the US and around the world.
So if you think the way I once did, it is time to change your mind. Below are my picks for the top 3 brewpubs you simply must visit.
Pelican Pub and Brewery
Pacific City, Oregon
While Portland is home to many excellent brewpubs, it can’t offer an oceanfront view. But Pelican Pub and Brewery can. In addition to their craft brews, they also offer excellent food and a patio that will let you take in one of the most beautiful sunsets you have ever seen in your life.
Hill Farmstead
Greensboro Bend, VT
Okay, so this isn’t so much a brewpub as it is a brewery, but it had to be included. Not only has it been ranked the best in the US, but it offers an experience like no other. Really, just getting there is an adventure in and of itself. And once you are there, you get to enjoy both the brews and the scenery of the farmstead, which has been in the owner’s family for generations. It is less a trip to the pub and more of a retreat.
Asheville Brewing
Asheville, NC
This spot is anything you want it to be. Are you looking to complete a tasting? They can do it. Do you want to pub experience? You got it. Do you want to enjoy your craft beer while enjoying a dine-in movie theater? You can have that too. It just might be the coolest brewpub in the entire country.
Is there a brewpub you love that you think we need to add to our bucket list? Share it with us in the comments.
