It’s been a LONG time since I’ve had the opportunity to be in the dating world, so we thought we’d give you the Gin Joint’s point of view when it comes to the dangers of dating. We have our own man about town, Ben helping us maneuver this month’s Lifelock sponsored post.
Dating is not like it used to be.
I remember college and hitting on girls and my only worry was getting too drunk on a date (sorry mom and anyone I dated in college), including indian singles. I remember spilling a glass of red wine on my crotch once while a date was in the bathroom (we were eating outdoors on a busy street) and forgot to explain it as we walked off, I’m sure it was pretty embarrassing for her to walk with me down the street (BTW I recovered from that epic failure). We all have some embarrassing dating stories from our college years (and I may have more than most).
I’m just about thirty years old now and have been single for a year and dating quite a bit. Dating now is a bit different than it was before; there are many more fears than getting the latest disease. Thankfully, most of my insecurities are gone at this point in life and I’ve hit the “why not” phase because I’m just too old for regrets. However, dating now can be very scary too. Identity thieves are looking for your information and they can use online dating to find it.
There is no denying that online dating is a major part of dating in the modern world. According to the NY Daily News More than one third of U.S. marriages begin with online dating, and those couples may be slightly happier than couples that meet through other means.
Here are some tips not to get your identity stolen while dating online:
No Personal Info:
Your address, phone number, social security number or place of employment can be used to steal your identity.
Don’t send money:
If you have been talking to someone long distance and are going halves on an airplane ticket or gas money think TWICE. By sending a check they now have your routing number and checking account number. Personally, I buy those pre-paid Visa, Mastercards, or American Express with no personal information attached.
Don’t fall in love the first time you talk:
I seriously think that there are more and more people that stalk the dating sites to scam others. Take your time when getting to know someone online and don’t let yourself fall in love right off the bat. A relationship that develops slowing and with caution is the BEST.
Keep yourself private and protected:
Identity thieves will do anything to get your personal information. They take time and build your trust. You may THING he or she is Mr/Ms wonderful, and maybe they are, but JUST IN CASE you need to protect yourself. The easiest way to keep you information safe is by joining Lifelock.com like me!

Consider how lawyers, doctors, supervisors, lobbyists, and the like must be
articulate if they are to survive professionally. Men are attracted to smart
women, who are not boring and who speak their minds but still respect other people’s opinion. t have to be a total mystery man with different attitudes and surprises
for her.
