Romantic gifts are always appropriate but no time are they more so than on Valentine’s Day.
Flowers and chocolates are of course nice and appreciated without a doubt but something that lasts a little longer and more thought than a stop at the corner store will make a more lasting impression.
Select a romantic gift based on the individual. Playful and romantic sleepwear is an excellent choice for some but a very poor choice for others. Part of the fun in getting a gift for Valentine’s Day is being able to show it off to friends so if you go with something like lingerie add the flowers that are more suitable to being paraded to the friends.
If you want to go for something a little more extravagant (and are confident that you know her style well enough) you could opt for a beautiful dress and then take her to the theatre or an expensive restaurant to show it off, or, if size or fit are a concern, opt for a something like a designer handbag or scarf instead.
A very big faux pas – if you told a romantic interest of a gift you had given to somebody else years past, no matter how much they said they thought it was a great idea, Valentine’s Day is not the day to give them the same gift. On a romantic occasion the last thing you want to do is to remind them of somebody else you used to know so well. It may, however, be an excellent idea to make sure it is at least as nice.
Jewellery is an excellent item for a Valentines day gift. There are of course the possibilities of engagement rings but other rings work well too. Do not stop with looking at rings though. Necklaces, either contemporary or traditional (with a locket perhaps) are an excellent choice. Bracelets such as the charm bracelets with a couple of charms significant to the two of you are popular and make for simple smaller gifts later on to mark memorable occasions and things. Watches are making a big fashion comeback and are available in uncountable styles for any occasion. They have the added benefit of signifying time and the importance of time with them.
All gifts go well with a romantic dinner, whether it is a special quiet dinner with candlelight at home or out someplace nice followed by an evening on the town. The decision on that is really dependent on the couple and either may be more appropriate.
