I was a recent guest of the Hilton Sandestin Beach Resort. All opinions are strictly my own.

Each time I leave a spa/vacation I think to myself….this is one for the girls, and while my few days at the Hilton Sandestin Golf Resort and Spa are no different, this beachfront getaway that sits on the shores of the gulf coast is more than just a girlfriends getaway.
Gourmet
Over the years I’ve visited only a handful of resorts that had four diamond restaurants, and this getaway in South Walton is one. Seagar’s steakhouse that rivals the New York traditionals (even offering cheesecake direct from the Carnegie Deli in Manhattan), the offerings range from the expected filet mignon to seafood that comes straight from the docks to the kitchen. While it doesn’t “SCREAM” farm to table, the fresh local ingredients that lace the menu are apparent.
TRY: If you’re not a meat eater, order the pan roasted grouper. Don’t forget the Bananas Foster prepared tableside….Chef Dan Vargo will have you canceling your plans for the following night to come back and order it again!
Culture Vulture
Not far from the property in Santa Rosa Beach you’ll find a thriving art community, with local artists, artisans, and galleries galore. While it’s fun to wander and appreciate that various mediums and styles, there is a definite local “beach” feel to so many of the pieces. Wander around the shops and working studios and take in everything from reclaimed art to paintings.
TRY: Head to Mary Hong’s new Shard Shop and sign up for a 2 hour session to design your OWN art. I did this and it was GREAT fun.
Beach Bum
No need to leave the property, as the Hilton Sandestin Beach Resort sits directly ON the ocean. So, kick off your flip-flops and dive into the warm gulf coast waters. No need to get all dressed up to go inside for lunch, wander to the Sand Bar for your Pina Colada and lunch…shoes & shirts NEVER required.
TRY: Don’t want to leave your beachfront cabana? Simply hop into the on site take-out spot Picnix Market before heading to the sand and grab everything you need from grab & go food, to traditional beach food like hot dogs and cones of ice cream.
Spa Diva
That would be me. I’ll give you ALL of the details about the newly updated Serenity Spa soon, but just note that I rated my facial in the TOP 5 Champagne Living picks, and I spoke with friends who said the same about their massages. The atmosphere is relaxing with not one but TWO lounges to relax in before and after your treatments. Enjoy the steam, sauna and whirlpool (with cascading waterfall).
Try: Book the Triple Indulgence package with a full day of their signature services: Serenity Sea Escape Facial, Serenity by Design massage, 30 minute Replenishing Body Polish, lunch, manicure, pedicure, shampoo, blow dry and style.
Shop-a-holic
Whether you’re a discount shopper or are looking for unique artisan jewelry, the South Walton area offers a cornucopia of options. I ventured over to the Silver Sands Outlet Mall close to the resort for a little retail therapy. From Banana Republic to Hartmann luggage there are over 100 stores to offer you a bit of retail therapy.
Try: Head off the beaten path a bit to find some great artisan pieces, like the leather and pearl jewelry that is popular in the area. I did a bit of damage at Lily Chartier and am planning on ordering even MORE of her elegant baubles.
