For some reason, whether it was just a change based on age, or maybe it was the fact that others around me started drinking other liqueurs I stopped drinking it. The funny thing is that I REALLY always enjoyed it (there are other drinks that I used to enjoy and no longer order). But that’s neither here nor there.
Perhaps it was the artistic idea of drinking an absinthe (I think I may have read Anais Nin too many times), but I was drawn to it. What I DIDN’T know was that Gildas Loaëc and Masaya Kuroki, co-founders of fashion and record label Maison Kitsuné, dreamt years before of designing a capsule collection inspired by the imaginary world of Absinthe. Pernod recently approached Maison Kitsuné, and their idea turned into reality. The resulting capsule collection will be unveiled this fall along with the launch of a limited-edition bottle. Pernod Absinthe will release 1,805 bottles to celebrate the brand’s launch year.
The result is an AMAZING, colorful bottle (shown on the left), that has that signature Maison Kitsuné look.
When you think about the history of absinthe, it just makes sense. So many great artists claimed inspiration from this magical drink, and Pernod was the first to be sold commercially.
So I wonder….will you see me donning the Pernod-Kitsuné clothing collection soon? We’ll have to see.
Later this weekend I’ll tell you about something exciting happening at Colette Brooklyn. Colette is one of my FAVORITE stops in Paris for shopping and YES they carry Kitsuné.

I’ve not absinthe but that bottle definitely fits all I’ve ever heard of it’s effects!

I’ve never tried this and wouldn’t even know about it if not for the movies. I suppose one of these days I should! Love the bottle.
Kelly says
I didn’t realize that Pernod was absinthe. I love the bottle design.

wow zippy your living a dream. How wonderful and exciting. The bottle is beautiful and i can see why it offers inspiration to many

Pernod was a very popular drink in my “circle” back in the 70’s. It’s basically licorice flavored.
Zippy says
Isn’t that bottle beautiful? Loving it and I want to buy one, just to keep on my bar 😉
Zippy says
Pernod was originally absinthe, but it was outlawed in the United States. I think they sort of dumbed it down and just made a licorice flavored liqueur for consumption here, but kept the absinthe in Europe. I used to live in France, so what we drank was the absinthe.
Zippy says
If you like black licorice then you’d like Pernod. It’s quite strong, so be prepared.
Naomi says
I love Pernod but I can’t for the life of me see you wearing a visor, Zippy! A scarf or flippy skirt, yes…
Stefanie says
The bottle is pretty. I’m not sure I would like licorice flavored liqueur though.
Billie says
I don’t like black licorice flavors, but that bottle is awesome.

That bottle is cute. I’d love to put it on my shelf for decor but I don’t care for licorice flavor.
