I’m picking out some of my favorite pieces from the runways of New York Fashion Week to share. I can’t WAIT to see these (or variations of these outfits) hit the racks in my favorite stores. The Arise collection is just so ethereal.
For those not familiar with Arise – it is Africa’s foremost style magazine, showcasing local African designers (as well as music, culture and politics). Designers in this year’s NYFW Collection included:
- Ozwald Boateng OBE (UK/Ghana)
- Gavin Rajah (South Africa)
- Tiffany Amber (Nigeria)
- Tsemaye Binitie (UK/Nigeria)
- Maki Oh (Nigeria)
Love the pink lace. The top dress is fab, too, but I think you’d have to be a tall girl to get away with that color blocking.
Naomi – this collection is so YOU. It’s retro looking, yet with a modern edge.

Love the styles!
I would totally wear the pink dress, if the top wasn’t see-through.
I love that third dress!
A beautiful collection. I love that second dress.

They’re all very cute!
I agree, it’s something that you’d scour resale shops for.
Yes, so do I. It’s nice to see fashions that are more WEARABLE at the shows.
LOL – I think a camisole would definitely be in order on that dress.
I just want to have the figure to WEAR that dress. It’s absolutely elegant.
I can so see you in those dresses Jenn – especially the vintage looking pink one.
I know, so unusual for the NY Fashion Week shows. Most of the stuff is CRAZY looking.
I’d LOVE to be able to try that one on.
