I MISS SHOPPING!
Yes, I yelled it and I’m not ashamed. I always loved taking a break to walk around the stores and see what is new, get ideas for putting outfits together, etc. It was my escape from the house, from the computer, from the day-to-day.
Shopping in 2020
The only real shopping that I’ve done is to the grocery store during senior hours. Somehow there’s not a whole lot of fun involved.
- Put on mask
- Grab a wipe
- Go into store
- Wipe down cart
- Shop as quickly as possible to avoid people (especially those not wearing masks)
- Find empty shelves for those things that I REALLY need
- Get out quickly
- Grab my can of Lysol
- Spray bags as I put them in the car
- Grab wipes and wipe down the door handle and anything I’ve touched
- Squeeze hand sanitizer on my hand
- Remove mask
- Pull into the garage
- Take items out of each bag and wipe them down before taking them into the house
- Toss everything else into the trash in the garage
- Dump fruits & veggies into the sink & wash
- Put away groceries
It’s all so complicated now
I have learned to adapt. I still need the break during the day, and while I used to be an Amazon shopper, I have definitely expanded my shopping repertoire to include not only NEW sites but also avenues that I would never have considered before this.
I hate staying in my PJ’s during the day
Plus, we go out for walks with the dog and for exercise every day. Besides, I never dressed for others, I’ve always dressed to please myself. Fashion is as much an art form as theater, painting, and poetry. The biggest difference has been that lately I really think more about comfort than before.
Spring 2020 fashion
I never thought that I’d be looking through the QVC website or television station or shopping online for sandals that were as comfortable as slippers inside the house. I used to think that hats meant stiff creations to be taken off quickly (like an uncomfortable bra). But, things have changed and so has my closet…to reflect the times.
Renee Greenstein
What a surprise. I was introduced to her clothing through my influencer channels but soon found myself BACK on QVC ordering more and more. What began as this beautiful lounge kimono morphed into my at-home uniform these days. I now own 2 of Renee Greenstein’s dresses, 2 pair of comfortable pants and 2 tops that I interchange regularly (the black pants and top under my kimono are hers as well). Now you know where my stimulus check is going. Thankfully, her fashion and denim collection are very reasonably priced (and you’ll often find them on sale on QVC).
Wallaroo Hats
I hate baseball caps. The reason? I have very short hair and they look HORRIBLE on me. I think it’s because no hair sticks out…I don’t know. I also have a pinhead. I generally shop in the children’s department for smaller hats because the usual ones fall over my eyes (told you I had a pinhead). Children’s hats look like, well….children’s hats. Because of that, I’ve got ONE hat that I bought for the Kentucky Derby years ago on Nantucket from a hatmaker that made it sized just for me. When I learned that the Wallaroo Victoria (a hat I’d been eyeing for a while) comes in petite PLUS it’s sizeable to get an even BETTER fit, I knew that I had to have one for my morning walks and sitting poolside. Best of all, it has a UPF of 50+, so I’m protected from the sun. They have beautiful hats for men and women (my dad always wore a Wallaroo Hat on the golf course). Whether you want a wide brim, a fedora, a cowboy hat, or a simple visor or cap, they have them, even if you have a tiny head as I do.
BZees Shoes
I live in sandals. Even when it’s pouring rain outside. I’ve never felt comfortable in sneakers and if it’s daytime it means that I’m in flip-flops, yoga sandals, slingbacks, or slides. I’m embarrassed to tell you how many pairs of sandals I own. I’ve never counted, but I’ll take a wild guess that it’s well over 50 pairs. So why would I need more? Because I crave COMFORT and I had never tried Bzees before. I’m prepping for summer parties and decided that red, white & blue were the theme. I’m ready to chill by the pool and I need something that looked great and would give me that little bit of support that I need. I knew that Bzees Chill Sandals would be the perfect fit…LITERALLY. They have just the right amount of sparkle to reflect the summer sun (and who doesn’t like to sparkle). I thought it was funny that they call their technology Cloud 9, but I learned quickly that the Air-Infused Outsoles make me feel like I’m walking on…well, you get it.
