This week I went and got my yearly mammogram. My mother passed away from breast cancer at 55 years old, and because I’m a high risk, and to honor her memory, I get it done during breast cancer awareness month. While we should be doing self-exams every month, and getting our tata’s checked yearly, there are still some women who don’t remember or can’t afford to have a mammogram. Breast cancer awareness groups like The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, The Tutu Project benefiting The Carey Foundation and The Cancer Vixen Fund at Beth Israel Hospital are CRUCIAL to helping women with early detection, as well as research and development to find a cure for breast cancer.
As a long time Bloomingdale shopper (because as my mom used to repeat, “nobody beats a Bloomie’s sale”) I’ll be doing a little EXTRA shopping this month.
Why?
Because from now through November 3, 2013, when you charge a $15 fee on your Bloomingdale’s card–100% funds research, support and awareness programs at The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, The Tutu Project benefiting The Carey Foundation and The Cancer Vixen Fund at Beth Israel Hospital. After that you can shop til you drop (even for cosmetics and fragrances) using your Bloomingdale’s card.
Here’s what you get when you spend
- $250 – $499.99 – get $25
- $500 – $749.99 – get $50
- $750 – $999.99 – get $75
- $1,000 – $2499.99 – get $100
- $2500+ – get $250
You’ll be mailed your Give Pink card in December…just in time for some holiday shopping!
