Fashion trends for the holiday season

image002 (9)

It’s party and entertaining season and the one question that I’m asked more than any other is

WHAT DO I WEAR TO (fill in the blank)?

From packing for a river cruise, like I am this weekend, to Thanksgiving dinner, we know that you want to be on trend, but keep dressing easy. That’s why we asked zulily’s in-house trend expert, Claire Magruder for her suggestions for stylish and seasonally-appropriate outfits this holiday season.

Apple Red

Red is definitely the color of the moment, and perfect for holiday looks.  I love it paired with cream, black, or very pale pink.  It’s easy to turn to your basic black evening routine, but step outside the box and try something new!

Go Sequin Crazy!

I’m in love with all the great metallic sequined looks out right now, especially in a knee length skirt, either A-Line or Pencil.  My favorite way to wear these are with a soft formfitting white sweater, strappy gold heels, and a pink lip.  So feminine and festive!

It Doesn’t Always Have to be Dressy!

If you’re a casual girl, go with dark skinny jeans and just fancy them up with a couple of easy additions.  Nice heels do the trick every time, along with a peplum tunic tank, some sparkly jewelry, and you’re good to go.

Pleats are Very On-Trend Right Now.

Pick up a skirt with swingy folds, whether it’s a maxi or ends at the knees, and you can’t go wrong.  Since there’s a lot going on with this look, I pair them with a simple black form fitting top, tucked into the skirt for a touch of polish.

I am all about casual. I live in my skinny jeans. My favorite trend!
