I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for Fashion Project. I received a promotional item to thank me for my participation.
The causes that I’m most passionate about are those that have touched my life in some way. As most of you know from previous posts about cancer, my mom lost her life to the disease when she was only 55 years old. She was a beautiful woman, and dealing with the loss of both of her breasts and her hair were devastating for her. I DO remember going shopping with her for wigs, fun HATS and clothes that made her feel better about herself…but, it was truly a difficult time in her life.
That was back in 1985.
Today, with the help of the Look Good Feel Better program, people with cancer can get help with the feeling of not LOOKING the way that they did pre-surgery or chemo. Through free workshops that include lessons on cosmetics, skin and nail care, wigs, turbans, accessories, and wardrobe, cancer patients can once again look in the mirror and see a whole person, not just the disease.
What is the Fashion Project?
Featuring clothes and accessories that are donated by celebrities, designers and members of the community, you can shop and donate “like-new” women’s designer clothing. From now through June 7, 2015 they are opening the doors of The Look Good Feel Better boutique on Fashion Project.com. Over $4,000 in has been raised through their charitable initiative, including over 850 donated items.
Join Me
I’m spending next week cleaning out my closet to donate designer items in my closet that I either no longer (or never) wore (many with the tags still on) to the boutique. I’ll also be doing a bit of shopping to find those that you and others have donated to help raise funds. Spring is the BEST time to go through your wardrobe and cull the items that no longer fit or that you’ve lost interest in wearing. Why not join me, and donate alongside Champagne Living to help women with cancer.
