Since September is my take stock time and I DO take my time and try not to put too much pressure on myself, I was wondering if we each get a Do Over?
At 55 I’m already beyond mid-life. There are no children living at the “mansion” and Mr. S. and I live a nice life…..but what lies ahead?
Do you remember all of the hopes, dreams and aspirations that you had when you just graduated high school or college? I remember announcing how I was going to conquer the world. Perhaps I’d be a famous dancer or actress. I would change peoples perception with my eloquent writing. I’d be the ULTIMATE authority on how to live, what to do, where to go….. Yes, people would see me on the streets – they’d point and whisper in awe.
I was actually one of the lucky ones. I DID become a dancer and and actress. At the very least, I had the opportunity to practice my art.
We get married and settle down. We have children and we devote our lives to creating a loving home. Some of us have careers, others have jobs, we all have SOMETHING in our lives. At a certain point (for most it is mid-life) we take stock and look back and wonder….
Do I get a do over? Do I get to face the world once again, only this time with the knowledge that life has given me? The grey hairs, the middle aged spread, the older bones and joints no longer work the way they did when I was just out of school. Do I get to go back and start again?
YES – at least that’s what I’m planning. Just like the day I graduated, I’m ready to take on the world again. As my friend Ava said, at the age of 60 – “What do I want to be when I grow up?” There are so many things that I still want to do, places I want to visit, people I want to meet and things I want to be. The difference is, I now have the luxury to be able to do them (with a little Champagne Living creativity of course).
My first goal – is to go from Frumpy to Fabulous! I want to BE FABULOUS (whatever that means). For each of us FABULOUS is something different, but it doesn’t matter, because we can ALL attain it. My mom used to tell me that we were all given the same gifts, a body, a mind, a soul, etc. No one of us is better than the other. If we WANT SOMETHING we only need to set our mind and actions to getting it, being it, living it.
In the coming weeks and months, I’ll be researching, reviewing and highlighting products, services, etc. that may help us in our goal – both here as well as on The Review Broads. So, when you see the F2F at the beginning of a post – you’ll KNOW it’s part of the Frumpy to Fabulous series. This is JUST the beginning.

Life is an adventure. We should enjoy the journey because the goals are always changing.
