Adding fun to family travel

TRAVEL

I think it’s one of my FAVORITE experiences. At this stage in life, I have been traveling either alone or with a friend, but it wasn’t always that way. Just ask Ben. I schlepped my son all over the world when he was younger (I think he loved Spain the most). But our favorite family travel was always packing up the car after school on a Friday and heading to the mountains to ski each winter, while summer escapes usually meant heading to New Hampshire or Maine for lazy days at the lake or the ocean.

Things were different then and there just wasn’t the technology that there is today. There are a myriad of options for the family traveler, with some FUN technology to make traveling even MORE exciting. I’m sure that Ben would have LOVED having his own point and shoot camera to catch the moose that crossed in front of our car on the Kancamagus Highway in New Hampshire, or a scavenger hunt on the slopes (snowboard, red scarf, mismatched mittens).

While we were not much for camping, bringing along a Roku stick to watch favorite shows when we pulled into hotels on the road would have been a lifesaver (since I can’t recall them having much in the way of children’s programming at any of the hotels we stayed at).

While those are fun

I always worried about what was going on back at home, and I STILL DO each time I hit the road. It would be great to have a security system in the mansion like the Nest Cam available at Best Buy. That way I can keep tabs on Clem, Mr. S, and the house while livestreaming in HD right on my smartphone.
