One of my favorite things to do is put together gift guides. It reminds me of when I was young and used to sit with the big WISH BOOK in my lap, pen in hand, circling all of the things that I wanted. Of course, I knew that I wouldn’t get EVERYTHING that I circled, and over the years became a bit more discriminating knowing that if I circled my VERY FAVORITES that I’d have a great chance of getting one or two of the toys, clothes, books, and records that I really wanted. It is in that same spirit that I went to AARP Member Advantages website to put together my holiday gift guide this year. I may be a bit older than I was when I circled those toys in the WISH BOOK, but I enjoy the process of dreaming of what I’d like Mr. S to buy me, or what I plan to get for him and my friends & family with the same exuberance.
For the history buff in your life
I have a friend whose favorite novels and travel all revolve around history, so what BETTER thing to get her than a membership to Ancestry? That way she can search her OWN family’s history. The best part is that I can save 30% off of the regular price by purchasing it through the AARP Member Advantages website. Imagine if she learns that her great, great grandmother was a queen, a famous explorer or…
For the foodie
We all have someone in our life who either loves to cook, eat, or critique a great meal. Graze offers over 100 different snacks to choose from that are handpicked AND healthy for you. Choose 8 different snacks to put in a box for a gift, and if you order NOW via AARP Member Advantages you get your first box of 4 snacks FREE (plus $1.00 shipping).
For the automobile lover (like Mr. S)
Mr. S drives a “vintage” (that’s a nice word for OLD) sports car. He loves putting the top down and driving along the beach, but I worry that the car will break down. I’d give him a very practical gift (and one that he’d love) – a yearlong membership to AARP Roadside Assistance by Allstate. You can get $10 off the price of joining when you purchase through the AARP Member Advantages website. Vroom, Vroom.
For the hostess
This year it feels like I’ve got parties to go to every week. Between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve I’m on the go and I don’t want to show up empty handed. AARP Member Advantages has me covered no matter whose house I end up at, with gifts from 1-800-Flowers, Fannie May Chocolates, and Harry and David Gourmet Gifts (hmmm….maybe THIS is why I’m being invited so often). THIS is my secret to juggling holiday shopping and parties.
See Cirque du Soleil
I took Mr. S to see them for our Anniversary 15 years ago, and we STILL talk about how beautiful and how much fun it was to watch these amazing performers. Whether it be in Las Vegas or one of their road shows, tickets to see Cirque du Soleil are bound to please everyone from teens through seniors. This is an experience that they’ll NEVER forget, and when you buy online through AARP Member Advantages you save up to 20%.
The point is
You don’t have to be 10 years old to circle those things that you want on your wish list, and no matter WHO you’re buying gifts for this holiday season, you can find something that fits their WISH LIST at a discount when you buy through AARP Member Advantages.
