X the TXT with Allstate

Texting. We all do it. Generally it’s something that I do when I want to get a hold of my son. He, along with LOTS of young people that he knows use the text feature on their cell phone to communicate as much IF NOT MORE than actually talking on the phone. It’s fun, it’s fast…..but when they’re driving – IT’S DANGEROUS!

This holiday season there will be even MORE teenagers getting mobile phones as holiday gifts. We give them to our kids so that they can contact us in a case of emergency. BUT – TEXTING while DRIVING – can lead to a crash, or WORSE.

I’m proud to join Allstate in the “X the TXT” campaign to make this holiday season a SAFER one for our teens.
Allstate wants to remind us that ~

  1. Reaching for a phone while driving increases your risk of being in acar crash by nine times.
  2. By pledging not to text and drive, you’re doing your part to help make this the Safest Holiday Ever.
  3. The deadly consequences of texting while driving don’t just affect teens; it also affects their families, friends and communities.
  4. We’re asking teens and teen influencers around the nation to take their thumbs off their cell phones and keep their eyes on the road

Did you know that 2/3 of teens ADMIT to texting and IMing while driving? Yes, those are the one’s who ADMIT IT (can you imagine the REAL numbers).

Allstate Insurance is hitting the streets on a 30-city tour this holiday season, to raise awareness about the dangers of texting while driving.

Why not join them by taking the pledge online and committing to being smarter behind the wheel? For everyone who joins, Allstate will donate $1.00 to the National Organizations for Youth Safety.

NOYS is a collaborative network of national organizations and federal agencies that serve youth and focus on youth safety and health. Through this network, NOYS influences more than 80 million young people ages 5 to 24 and adult advisors and supervisors. Their vision is to be the premier national youth health and safety coalition and their mission is to promote youth empowerment and leadership and to build partnerships that will save lives, prevent injuries, and promote safe and healthy lifestyles among all youth. NOYS is a longstanding leader in developing programs to promote youth traffic safety.

Be safe and have a Happpy, Healthy Holiday Season.

“I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of The Allstate Foundation. Mom Central sent me a gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate.”
