Vacationing in style

Are You Insured?

Vacations have changed a lot over recent years. As celebrity culture and lavish living become increasingly common place, everyone wants to travel in style. Rather than reside in a hotel at their favorite annual holiday destination, holidaymakers now buy their own little piece of paradise. Taking their stylish accommodation wherever they fancy, yachts are the ideal choice for the holidaymaker that wants to travel luxuriously.

But the modern vacation requires a more modern insurance policy. Just as you would insure your home, your yacht needs to be sufficiently insured depending on how you choose to use it or where you keep it. It is likely that your yacht is not in use all year round so the majority of the time it will not be under your watchful eye.

Choosing the right insurance company is essential to ensure your yacht is protected in the event that is damaged, stolen or involved in an accident. Many yacht owners like to opt for a yacht insurance company that will let them keep their no claims bonus and won’t charge them excess if their boat is damaged whilst in its permanent marina berth, which can often happen as boats come in and out regularly.

Yacht owners love nothing more than cruising around and exploring the many sights such sunny climes have to offer. As a result, many yachts can be involved in accidents during high season when the waterways are busy. It is essential that yacht owners have a good level of cover should they damage another owner’s yacht in the process. As a result, it is wise to look for a yacht insurance policy that has £3 million third-party liability and legal expense cover.

Yachts are notoriously expensive to repair let alone purchase, so it makes sense to purchase cover for your hull, including superstructure fittings, machinery and equipment. Yacht insurance companies with a 24-hour helpline are recommended, as sometimes holidaymakers can get caught up in the excitement of being abroad and not know who to turn to when things go wrong.

Never thought of yacht insurance before, but then again I don’t own a yacht. I would LOVE to own one though! Love the pictures!

We used to own a sailboat and raced on the weekends when I lived in RI. My hubby traded it in for a power boat and I never liked it. I love the quite and the way sailing just cuts through the water, and LOVE the sport (and work involved. I just wish they weren’t so darn expensive to maintain.
