In this economy, when things are so tight the first thing we seem to put on hold are our VACATIONS. A new type of vacation has emerged…the STAYCATION. I live in South Florida, where Staycations for me would definitely be a VACATION for a lot of people (since I live 2 hours from Mickey Mouse and 2 hours from South Beach), so it is a lot easier. Even a cruise vacation becomes cheap when you subtract the flight and hotel stay prior (and perhaps after) your cruise. But, consider just exploring your city or another city within driving distance. A weekend Staycation can relax and renew your spirit. How about that restaurant that you’ve ALWAYS wanted to try, but never have (don’t forget that they may even have a gift certificate available at Restaurant.com
where you can save an extra 50% off code until 10/12 with the Promo Code: DISCOVER). Is there a new movie that’s about to premiere that you’ve been hearing about? Is there a free screening available at Film Metro?
When’s the last time you went to the local museum? Usually museums have one night a week that is either FREE or has a reduced rate. If you live in the south, go to the beach for the day…or even better, bring a bottle of wine, some cheese and a couple of beach chairs and watch the sunset on the beach. There are so many things that you can do without spending a fortune.
If you live near a major city there may even be some great promotions available. I was looking at some great deals and found that Circus Circus in Reno is having a promotion for 2 nights FREE for Halloween.
So, take some time to relax and have a fun Staycation without spending a lot.
