Summertime is my favorite time of year, because “It’s Rum Time!”
Mojitos, Rum-Rita’s and even the classic Rum on the rocks, signify that it’s time for some sun and fun. Whenever I’m stocking up for poolside parties and planning out the menu, it always has Puerto Rican Rum in bulk as the first on the list. Puerto Rico is the Rum Capital of the world, distilling it for more than four decades. Did you know that 70% of North America’s rum comes from Puerto Rico? Usually I’m a Gin guy, but there’s something special to sipping on a smooth, Puerto Rican Rum that transports you from the every day, to an instant Island vacation.
With the summer upon us, I took some time to visit It’s Rum Time and watch their brand new web series, Rum Times. I had no idea how intricate the distilling process was, and how much time goes into perfecting Puerto Rican Rum. Since it’s been around for centuries, it gave me, and will surely give you a richer understanding and appreciation for Puerto Rico and it’s history in ways you’ve never seen before.
Rum Times is so easy to access and so easy to get lost in while you watch. The episodes are so much fun, and the host is so engaging while telling the audience about famous inventions and celebrations! It helped me appreciate that poolside drink that much more, and made my signature drink of summer even more delicious, because now I know where it comes from and the history behind the Country making it.
