Rodents at the Mansion – Zhu Zhu Pets review & giveaway

Rodents have taken over the mansion, but don’t call the exterminator.

A few months ago (well, a bit more than that), my son got himself a hamster. He named her Phoebe and he was SO excited that Phoebe ended up with a Mansion and a Rolls of her own. Three days later, Phoebe seemed a bit…um, tired – because she slept and slept. No one dared wake her, but by day four he touched her and realized Phoebe had crossed the rainbow bridge. There was a lot of sadness at the mansion, so “B” adopted another hamster – Mr. Avery.

Mr. Avery is still alive, but has moved out. It was a mutual decision. He wanted to travel a bit and “B” couldn’t take care of him, so he went to live with a good friend of both “B” and “S.” Once again, there was sadness at the mansion.

Then a MIRACLE occurred. Okay, it wasn’t really a miracle. It was MomSelect asking if I’d like to review and giveaway the newest rage Zhu Zhu Pets.

Each Zhu Zhu Pets™ Hamster has its own unique personality and whimsical sounds! They interact with their environment and are programmed with two different modes:

  • Loving Mode: Pet them, love them, hear them squeak and chatter
  • Explore Mode: Let them scoot, scamper, bump & boogie across the floor or through their Hamster Habitat

If I thought that Phoebe and Mr. Avery had a mansion….it was NOTHING compared to what these hamsters have. Our two little furry friends arrived with a complete Hamster “habitrail”, including kitchen, hamster wheel and more.

Not only was this SO much fun for “B” & “S”, but “T” (7 years old) and Baby “D” loved it as well. Even Mr. S and I got a kick out of them. Oh and there’s ONE MORE resident at the mansion who loves these little critters…..

These are destined to be on your kids wish list this holiday season. What’s better than having a hamster? Having hamsters who don’t need to be cleaned up after (and the only dying will be the battery – which is easy to replace).

  10. My granddaughter just saw the commercial for these this weekend. She just has to get them! She already has a dog and two cats and really thinks these would be better than getting another puppy. But if she can't get these than she would like a puppy.

  16. My son has been begging for a dog. We got him a real hamster for his birthday. Now his younger brother wants a hamster too but he's not old enough to handle it. that is why I want to get him zhu zhu pets for Christmas, but nowhere online has them in stock.

  17. Another dog — because this one needs a brother. Preferably a younger, puppier brother. I think the zhu zhu pet's a better bet!

  24. My 7yo daughter has a real hamster. She is a wonderful and responsible pet owner.
    However, her 3yo sister wants a hamster too but she isn't old enough for the responsiblity yet. This would be the perfect solution for her.

  30. My girls want a cat. Not going to happen until we have a house with a back yard. Because I want to get a dog and cat at the same time and a dog does not belong in an apartment.

We have two very old cats and a very old dog, there is no room for another pet, but my 6 year old grandson has been wanting his own pet for so long he even names the bugs he finds in the garden! This would be perfct for him since his favorite activity is actually playing with his car collection, when he is not trying to get our pets to play with him.   92. I have 4 kids. My oldest dd is 14 and loves to help animals (she does things like the mega-march for dogs), and there was a home on the news where they found over 100 dogs alive, 150 dead in freezers, and she nudged me into applying to adopt one of the dogs. We got him last week and he's the sweetest dog ever. (probably so happy just to see the light of day!)

  111. My second oldest son (he's 11) bugs me all the time for a golden retriever or a beagle even though we have a cat and a chihuahua. (The cat is bigger than the dog). Last week we rescued another chihuahua that is bigger and looks like a little golden retriever, maybe that will do for now!

  161. My daughter is 4 years old. She is asthmatic. I've been told by her pediatricians and pulmonologist that there are no furry or feathered pets in her future-EVER. I got her a fish tank with two goldfish. They became enormous and smelly and went to live in our next door neighbor's pond with thier koi last week.
    Enter Zhu Zhu hamsters! She saw the commercial and has been talking about them non-stop. The pet that answers all of our needs at the moment! So, I've checked around only to find that everybody and their brother, aunt, uncle and niece wants these adorable "pets". I've been checking my local WalMarts daily and have submitted for Toys R Us to email if they ever get anymore in. No luck.
    So, I'm hoping and praying to win an online contest so I can surprise her for Christmas.
    I'm sure she'd love any of the four cuties and the car!

  326. My kids both want one of these Zhu Zhus. They see the commercial and shout "Mom….I want that soooooooooooo much!" This would be much better than the real thing because our cat is a curious fellow and would probably give a real hamster heart palpitations!
