Only the best for my baby – Orijen

No bones about it, Clem is spoiled. We have a miniature bull terrier at the mansion who gets the best of everything. He rules the mansion, generally gets his way, is a real PITA, but he’s our baby (silly empty nester’s that we are). I’m extremely picky about what I give him to eat. While I’d love nothing more than to be able to feed him a raw diet (because I know that’s what’s best for him), he has a very sensitive stomach. With most meals he gets not only kibble, but also yogurt, fruit and/or cooked vegetables.

Clem’s food is ordered directly from Mr. Chewy because I love their selection as well as their prices. I’ve been doing this since I was introduced to them via a post that I wrote about the company. I loved their service so much that it became my go-to pet food source.

I also have the luxury of having a best friend (Ava) who is a pet nutritionist, and before I make any changes to Clem’s diet, I always consult her. I had been feeding Clem an organic dog food and was curious about Orijen. I’d heard that it was a quality product, but I had to double check. I barely got the word Orijen out of my mouth and she said YES, YES, YES.  Then she went on to explain that this food is made up of food that’s fit for humans.

BIOLOGICALLY APPROPRIATE ORIJEN IS UNIQUELY DIFFERENT FROM TODAY’S CONVENTIONAL DRY DOG AND CAT FOODS

Protein-rich, carbohydrate-limited and grain-free, ORIJEN features the highest fresh meat inclusions of any dry dog or cat food, at the same time excluding many conventional pet food ingredients — such as inappropriate high-glycemic cereal grains and vegetable proteins that simply are not present in the natural diet.

To mirror the natural diet, ORIJEN also features a diversity of meats including fresh, free-run chicken and turkey, fresh whole eggs, fresh free-range red meats and fresh saltwater and freshwater fish — all in a Biologically Appropriate ratio of 80 percent meat, 20 percent fruits and vegetables, and zero grain (80.20.0).

By mirroring the foods that dogs and cats evolved to eat, Biologically Appropriate ORIJEN nourishes as Mother Nature intended, resulting in the peak health and happiness of your cherished dog or cat, as well as your peace of  mind.

Remember all of those things that I added to Clem’s food like fruit and veggies…they’re in there in addition to:

  • Fresh and Regional Ingredients
  • Meat and Protein Rich
  • Carbohydrate Limited
  • Grain-free
  • No Plant Oils
  • Fruits and Vegetables
  • Health-promoting Botanicals
  • Mineral Balanced
He may be spoiled, but by feeding him Orijen I know that Clem is as healthy as he can possibly be, but in this house it’s also about flavor, so I turned to the dog himself to see what he thought…

It looks like he gave it a big paws up!

Remember when you change from one dog or cat food to another to do it gradually so as not to upset your pet’s system. I generally do 1/4 of the new food to 3/4 of the old one and increase the new food slowly (usually keeping the same ratio for a couple of days). Also note the amount of food you should feed your dog based on their weight and activity. Because of the density of the protein in Orijen your pet will need less than they would with an average dry dog food.

Orijen dog and cat foods are available for purchase at Mr. Chewy and remember that when you spend $49 1-2 day shipping is FREE.

I received product to facilitate this review. All opinions are strict mine and the dog’s. WOOF

Sounds like a great product. I love that you put ice in his water!
