beauty creams

What’s on YOUR bathroom vanity? This morning I walked into the GUEST bathroom, which I claimed a long time ago as my dumping grounds for all things beauty. The Master Bath is shared with Mr. “S” and just like having two walk-in closets to call my own, I like having two bathrooms that are mine as well. One is for cleaning, the second for beauty. As I stepped into my Beauty Cave, I took a look at some of the products that I’m CURRENTLY using. For my FACE ONLY I’ve got at least FIVE creams and serums lined up.

Why do I need FIVE?

Honestly, some I’m testing. Some are my go-to creams. There are day-time products, evening products, oh-no-my-skin-feels-dry products and a few others for good measure. After my visit with Dr. Pozner at the Sanctuary Medical Aesthetic Center in Boca Raton, FL a few weeks ago (where he zapped some of my sun and age spots off), I was given instructions.

1. MOISTURIZE

2. REALLY MOISTURIZE

3. Everyone can use a little Retin-A every other day or so

4. Take Vitamin E (was told the EXACT same thing at BodyLogicMD my go-to Dr. for bio-identical hormones, which you’ll read  more about soon).

5. Use a high SPF on your face daily – YEAR ROUND…an added HAT helps as well.

6. Don’t forget to Moisturize!

As you can see…I took his advice to the extreme, but that’s okay. I also believe that keeping your teeth looking their best is MORE important that make-up, keeping your clothes in tip-top condition (I hand wash about 1/3 of all of my wardrobe) and the rest of my skin needs to be as soft as my face.

So I went on the hunt. What I realized is that while I have a GREAT morning routine, my bedtime tended to be a bit rushed. So….after our little “talk” (and the smell of burning flesh) I’ve added two new items from Borghese.

Acqua Ristorativo Hydrating Concentrate
Crema Ristorativo-24 Continuous Hydration Moisturizer

The Acqua Ristoravito takes care of the free radical exposure (and with the beating down South Florida sun, I NEED this) and helps to protect against collagen breakdown (should have used this YEARS ago).

What it does

  • Helps preserve the most important characteristics of youthful healthy- looking skin including helping skin feel supple and toned.
  • Formulated with:
    • Acqua di Vita Complex to hydrate and energize skin
    • Two varieties of seaweed (Laminaria Ochroleuca Extract and Hydrolyzed Corallina Officinalis Extract) plus Watermelon Extract to protect skin against the damage of UV radiation
    • Pro-Vitamin B5 to help skin retain its natural moisture
    • Uses a Bio-Nymph Peptide complex to help protect skin DNA from external influences.
    • Dermatologist Tested. Allergy Tested. Suitable for all skin types.

While I use my moisturizer with SPF30 during the day, it’s still nice knowing that my Borghese Crema Ristorative is working even if I FORGET to reapply it in the AM. Plus, I just love, love, love the way that it dispenses. You press down on the top and JUST ENOUGH cream dispenses for you to whisk into your hand and onto your face.

What it does

  • Uses Moist 24™, a botanical moisturizing agent, to moisturize the upper layers of the skin for 24 hours.
  • Helps protect skin’s DNA from external influences using a Bio-Nymph Peptide complex.
  • Formulated with:
    • Acqua di Vita Complex to hydrate and energize skin
    • Vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant, to help skin retain its natural moisture
    • Two varieties of seaweed (Laminaria Ochroleuca Extract and Hydrolyzed Corallina Officinalis Extract) plus Watermelon Extract to protect skin against the damage of UV radiation
    • Dermatologist Tested. Allergy Tested. Suitable for all skin types.

Maybe I’m a bit obsessive, and NO I DON’T expect to look like I have the skin of a 21 year old, but frankly I want to know that I’m doing the BEST that I can for my skin.

So, what’s on YOUR counter?

OMG – If you could see UNDER my sink it’s a DISASTER. I totally ♥ the idea of a walk-in closet with a sink. Now who’s going to invent that for us?
