Navigating to and from the airport – NYC

The ONE thing that I’m hearing MOST of all in regards to BlogHer being in NYC this year is the expense of getting from the airport to the hotel. Someone is spreading HORROR stories of the cost being over $70 each way. Yes, if you take a private car and driver it might cost that much, but in reality it’s not all that expensive. I’ve outlined a few ways to make your way into Midtown from each of the three airports that are affordable.

Newark (EWR)

Air Train
Cost: $15.00 One Way
How: Direct train from Newark Airport to Penn Station in NYC

Newport/Liberty Airport Express
Cost: $15.00 One Way/$25.00 Round Trip
How: Shared Shuttle to/from Port Authority, Grand Central or Bryant Park

Super Shuttle
Cost: $17.00 (and up) One Way
How: Shared Van – they’ll pick you up & drop you off DIRECTLY at your hotel!

JFK

NYAS – this is what used to be known as the Carey Bus

Cost: $15.00 One Way/ $27.00 Round Trip
How: Shared shuttle that will take you to/from Grand Central, Penn Station, Port Authority, Bryant Park or your Hotel

Super Shuttle
Cost: $18.00 (and up) One Way
How: Shared Van – they’ll pick you up & drop you off DIRECTLY at your hotel!

TAXI
Flat rate fares apply from Manhattan to JFK of $45 One Way. If there are a GROUP of you coming into the city together this can actually be less expensive than shuttles that charge PER PASSENGER.

LaGuardia (LGA)

NYAS

Cost: $12.00 One Way/ $21.00 Round Trip
How: Shared shuttle that will take you to/from Grand Central, Penn Station, Port Authority, Bryant Park or your Hotel

Super Shuttle
Cost: $13.00 (and up) One Way
How: Shared Van – they’ll pick you up & drop you off DIRECTLY at your hotel!

TAXI
Fare can run up to $26.00 PLUS tolls. – again, if you’re traveling with a family or friends, this could be the less expensive way to go.

Buses and subways are the CHEAPEST way to go, but if you’re toting luggage and having to switch between lines, it may not be the most practical.

See you in the City!!!

Thanks for the info! Would you be willing to create a list for those of us who are arriving at certain times and the 3 main airports and want to share a taxi? I'd love you forever!

The BlogHer site has a place where you can meet up with potential riders to and from the airport!
