The countdown is on, and I can’t wait (I mean, just look at my Facebook page, it’s all I talk about lately)! In just a few short weeks, I’ll be in Miami for one of the most dazzling events in the cruising world—the naming and inaugural ceremony of the brand-new MSC World America. And as if that wasn’t thrilling enough, the ship’s godmother is none other than Drew Barrymore! I can’t wait to watch her christen the ship (it’s the total fan girl in me). Oh, and did I mention Orlando Bloom will be there too? Be still, my heart.
If you know me, you know I love a good cruise. As a matter of fact, I probably spend as much time cruising lately as I do on land. There’s something about being out on the open ocean, drink in hand, watching the sunset from a top-deck lounge that just makes life feel a little more magical. But the new MSC World America is promising to take that magic to a whole new level. This isn’t just any new ship—it’s a whole new world of cruising. From thrilling rides (hello, Cliffhanger over-water swing!) to the first-ever Eataly at sea, this ship is packed with surprises that I can’t wait to experience.
Let’s start with the star power. Orlando Bloom (yes, you’ve seen him and Drew Barrymore in the ads all over TV I’m sure) is part of MSC’s ongoing “Let’s Holiday” campaign, and he’s just as excited about this ship as I am. He called it the perfect mix of adventure, discovery, and comfort. And I mean, if an international heartthrob thinks it’s amazing, I’m pretty sure he’s onto something.
What I’m Most Excited About on MSC World America:
- Cliffhanger: The Ultimate Thrill Ride at Sea Picture this: You’re strapped into a swing, and suddenly, you’re soaring out over the edge of the ship, dangling 160 feet above the ocean. If you’re an adrenaline junkie (or just someone who likes to scream in exhilaration), the Cliffhanger is going to be a must-do. I’m already mentally preparing myself to take the plunge—literally!
- The Harbour: Family Fun, Food, and Sun While I won’t have little ones in tow, I can appreciate a well-designed family space, and The Harbour sounds like a game-changer for cruising with kids. It’s got an aquapark, an 11-story dry slide, a ropes course, and plenty of casual dining options. I might have to test out that dry slide myself—strictly for research purposes, of course.
- “Dirty Dancing in Concert”: Because Nobody Puts Baby in a Corner Can you imagine watching “Dirty Dancing” on a massive screen while a live band, dancers, and singers bring the soundtrack to life? And then, dancing the night away at a themed after-party? I’m already warming up my best “I’ve Had the Time of My Life” moves.
- Eataly at Sea: Bring on the Pasta! I am absolutely giddy about the fact that MSC World America will have the ONLY Eataly restaurant at sea. Freshly made pasta, top-tier Italian ingredients, and that perfect blend of casual and elegant dining? Sign me up. I will happily eat my way through this menu and report back with full details (and likely a food coma).
- New Bar & Lounge Concepts: Let’s Raise a Glass Whether it’s the chic adults-only Loft with its dueling pianos and late-night comedy shows or the All-Stars Sports Bar (because sometimes you just want a cold beer and a big screen), the ship’s entertainment lineup is looking seriously impressive. I might just have to try them all—you know, for journalistic integrity.
- LEGO® Experiences: Kid at Heart Approved There’s something so nostalgic about LEGO®, and MSC World America is taking it to another level with a LEGO® parade, a Family Zone, and even a LEGO® Game Show. I may have to challenge someone to a brick-building showdown!
And let’s not forget the ship’s itineraries. MSC World America will be calling some of the most stunning destinations in the Caribbean—Puerto Plata, San Juan, Costa Maya, Cozumel, Isla de Roatan, and the gorgeous Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve. I’ve been lucky enough to visit Ocean Cay before, and let me tell you—it’s a slice of paradise. White sand, crystal-clear water, and an eco-friendly vibe that makes you feel good about every second you spend there.
On April 9, the ship will be officially named in a grand ceremony at MSC’s brand-new Port of Miami terminal (it’s jut the largest cruise terminal in the world, no big deal). Then, it will set sail on its first official voyages, packed with guests ready to experience everything this incredible ship has to offer. And I’ll be there, soaking in every moment, from the glittering naming ceremony to the first sail away.
Stay tuned, because I’ll be sharing my firsthand experience, behind-the-scenes glimpses, and (let’s be honest) probably some very excited fangirling over Drew Barrymore and Orlando Bloom. If you’re a cruise lover—or even just someone who dreams of the ultimate vacation—MSC World America is definitely a ship to watch. And trust me, you’re going to want to book a trip on this beauty ASAP.
Bon voyage, MSC World America! I can’t wait to see what adventures await.
