The Palm Beach social scene has not started up yet (it’ll be another two months before all of the snowbirds arrive), so there’s no need to shop for a Charity Ball Gown quite YET! That doesn’t mean that you can sit back on your laurels and wait for those engraved invitations to come in the mail. You can do something RIGHT now.
Here are a few of the wonderful events going on right on the web.
For every Lands’ End FeelGood sweater purchased, the company will donate signature FeelGood yarn to One Heart Foundation’s Warming Families, a nationwide knitting charity. Lands’ End expects to donate thousands of pounds of yarn to the charity where volunteers plan to knit up to 25,000 hats and other items to warm the homeless and displaced.
Oh & you can LEARN TO KNIT courtesy of the Land’s End Channel
Date: Wednesday, September 16th
Time: 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. CST
Location: #landsend
So, help out those in need and buy yourself something YOU NEED at the same time.

Speaking of knitting. Did you know that October 4-10, 2009 is Keep a Silver Vixen Warm Week? What are Silver Vixens? They are women over 55 (in MY age group) who are in need of warm clothes this winter.
From October 4th until October 10th, Silver Vixens is inviting women over 55 to gather with their fellow knitters in the location of their choice – a house, yarn store, coffee shop, wherever! – for an evening of fun and philanthropy. The hope is that women throughout the country will knit up a washable scarf for a Silver Vixen in need, nothing fancy, just cute and something they might wear themselves
If you’re interested in participating in this event, Bonnie Price (founder of Silver Vixens) will provide two free scarf patterns that can be quickly finished, the name and address of a local organization to whom to donate the finished scarves, and pre-printed cards for each of the knitting circle members to enclose a personal note to the recipient simply e-mail bonnie@silvervixens.com .
