2023 is Right Around the Corner
I know that so many of us are looking for new products to kick off the year that not only WORK, but are clean, sustainable, and align with our values. PACIFICA is one of those brands. I’ve been wanting to try them for quite some time as I know that they have a great Vegan Collagen Line of skincare products. I am currently using a prescription on my skin (more on that to come) and I need EXTREMELY gentle products to use along with it, so I figured NOW was the time to FINALLY give PACIFICA a try.
How it aligns with what I’m trying to achieve
I love that PACIFICA uses vegan collagen proteins produced through a plant-based fermentation process that uses zero animal inputs while demonstrating its equivalence to animal-derived collagens through structural, biochemical, physical, and biological properties. It feels like the perfect balance between using the more natural plants with a wealth of science to insure that the line works.
When I start using a line I start with the basics and build upon them
Here are the two that I’ve started using.
Vegan Cream Creamy Gel Cleanser
This light cleanser gently removes makeup, oil, and daily residue easily while replenishing the skin with hydration. One of the things that I really wanted from a face wash was for it to be gentle enough so that my face wouldn’t sting when I put my prescription skin product on. A harsher cleanser can do this, but this Creamy Gel left me feeling like I had baby skin. It is formulated with vegan collagen and flower milk (I have no clue what flower milk is or does, but I love that I can say my cleanser has flower milk). It easily lathers into a creamy gentle texture without the addition of sulfates (and if you’ve used shampoo that is sulfate-free you know that they don’t always lather). I find that my skin feels clean and soft after using it. While my skin is dry. This cleanser can be used on all skin types.
Vegan Collagen Every Day Lotion with SPF30
If you think that I’m picky about my cleanser, I’m even pickier about the moisture that I put on my face. Sunscreen and hydration are musts for preventing the appearance of skin aging, plus I actually mix my medication into my lotion, partially because I get a more even application and partially because I want to reduce the strength a little bit. This lightweight, daily lotion is infused with vegan collagen, aloe, and flower extracts to hydrate skin. According to Dr. Pedram Kordrostami M.D, BSC, PGCERT, CEO & Founder of Omre, “Our body’s natural collagen production begins to decline every year after we turn about 30 years old, an unfortunate fact of the aging process,” so I’m always looking to use more collagen-focused products to keep my skin young. The carefully formulated broad spectrum SPF 30 protection means that I don’t have to add another sunblock for the day (cutting down on the number of creams and lotions that I put on my skin as well as cutting out that added cost). I find that this moisturizer blends in sheer and helps shield against the sun’s harmful UV rays without leaving a zinc cast. Once again, this product is formulated for all aging skin types.
Values
Cutting down on waste and using ingredients that offer a lower footprint are important to me. What I learned about PACIFICA Beauty is that they are in alignment with things that are important to me.
- 100% Plastic Collection Plan – This year, they partnered with Plastic CollectiveTM on projects that collect and recycle the plastic equivalent to the total amount of plastic used in Pacifica products during 2021. They call it their “100% Plastic Collection Plan.”
- Reduce and replace – They work to reduce our packaging in both weight and amount. Their ultimate goal is zero virgin plastic. Today more than 85% of their PET bottles are made from at least 50% post-consumer recycled material and the boxes are made from FSC-certified paper.
- Lower footprint ingredients – They have a strict no list under our Compassion Standards. The goal is to use ingredients that have less impact, on the planet, animals, or humans.
- Activism – They partner with the ACLU as well as the Gentle Barn to promote and support human and animal rights.
