I love a good cruise, but I don’t always love the idea of booking a pricey shore excursion, especially when the destination is as easygoing as Bimini. Sometimes, I just want to do my own thing—at my own pace—without being herded around in a big group. Whether you’re flying solo or enjoying the island with your partner, Bimini is perfect for exploring without a strict itinerary. Here are some of my favorite things to do when I visit—no excursion required!
Take It Easy on Radio Beach
If there’s one thing I never skip in Bimini, it’s Radio Beach. It’s close to the cruise port, and the sand is so soft it feels like powdered sugar under your feet. The water? Absolutely crystal-clear and the perfect shade of blue. I love just throwing down a towel, grabbing a fresh coconut from a local vendor, and letting the day unfold. It’s ideal whether you’re solo and looking for some peaceful sunbathing or if you’re with a partner and want a relaxed beach day. Bonus: If you bring your own snorkel gear, you can spot some colorful fish right off the shore!
Explore the Island by Golf Cart
Bimini is tiny, which means you don’t need a car to get around. Instead, rent a golf cart! This is hands-down my favorite way to explore, and trust me, you’ll feel like a local cruising down the road with the wind in your hair. You can stop at hidden beaches, check out the local shops, and even find a quiet spot to take in the views. If you’re with a partner, it makes for a fun little adventure together. And if you’re solo, it’s a safe and easy way to see the island without worrying about getting lost. Just be sure to negotiate the price before you take off!

Pop Into the Dolphin House
This spot is a hidden gem and one of the most unique places on the island. The Dolphin House is a quirky, hand-built home made entirely of recycled materials, and it’s a love letter to the dolphins that frequent Bimini’s waters. The owner, Ashley Saunders, is usually around to give personal tours, and he has some amazing stories to share. It’s a great little stop whether you’re wandering alone or with company—either way, it’s a cool, artsy experience you won’t find anywhere else.
Snack on Fresh Conch Salad
Let’s talk about food—because no trip to Bimini is complete without some fresh conch salad. This island favorite is made with diced conch, lime juice, peppers, and a little kick of spice, and it’s so refreshing on a hot day. My go-to spot? Joe’s Conch Shack. It’s casual, right on the water, and the conch is as fresh as it gets. If you’re with a partner, it’s a fun experience to watch them make it fresh right in front of you. If you’re solo, grab a seat, sip on a cold beer, and enjoy some top-tier people-watching.
Wander Through Alice Town
Alice Town is the heart of Bimini, and it’s where you’ll find a mix of local shops, dive bars, and that easygoing island vibe. I love just strolling around, checking out the street vendors, and maybe picking up a handmade souvenir or two. If you’re the type who likes to chat with locals, this is the place to do it. Grab a drink at Big John’s Bar & Grill, sit back, and soak up the scene—there’s always something interesting happening.
Find a Quiet Spot on Paradise Beach
If you want something a little more low-key than Radio Beach, head to Paradise Beach. It’s near Resorts World Bimini, but it’s usually less crowded, making it perfect for a quiet swim or some sunbathing. This is a great spot if you’re solo and want a peaceful escape, but it’s also perfect for couples looking for a little romantic moment away from the crowds. Just bring a towel, a good book, and maybe a cocktail from a nearby beach bar—you’ll be set for the afternoon.
DIY Snorkeling Adventure
If you love the idea of snorkeling but don’t want to sign up for a big group tour, just bring your own mask and fins. The waters around Bimini are teeming with marine life, and there are plenty of spots where you can swim out and see fish, coral, and even the occasional stingray. Radio Beach and Paradise Beach both have great snorkeling right off the shore. No need to overcomplicate things—just wade in and start exploring!
A Little Adventure: SS Sapona Shipwreck
Okay, so this one is for those who want a little more adventure but don’t want to commit to a structured excursion. The SS Sapona is a partially submerged shipwreck just off the coast, and it’s a dream spot for snorkeling and exploring. While most people visit it on a tour, you can sometimes find a local boater willing to take you for a better price. If you’re feeling brave and want to do something unique, this is definitely worth checking out.
Sip a Drink with a View
Sometimes, the best plan is no plan at all. Bimini has plenty of beachfront bars where you can kick back with a cocktail and let the island time take over. Sherry’s Paradise Beach Bar is a favorite—great drinks, ocean views, and a laid-back atmosphere that makes it easy to lose track of time. If you’re with your partner, this is the perfect way to wind down together. If you’re solo, no worries—you’ll probably end up chatting with fellow cruisers or friendly locals.
Catch an Incredible Sunset
Before heading back to the ship, make sure you catch the sunset. The way the sky lights up in shades of pink, orange, and purple is just breathtaking. You don’t need a fancy resort or a special excursion—just find a good spot near the water, sit back, and soak it all in. It’s the perfect way to wrap up your day in Bimini, no schedule required.
Bimini is one of those places where you don’t need a structured tour to have an amazing time. Whether you’re rolling solo and want a chill, self-guided adventure or you’re with your partner and looking for a mix of fun and relaxation, this island makes it easy to do your own thing. So rent that golf cart, hit the beach, and let the day unfold however you want—because in Bimini, that’s the best way to experience it!
