Food Porn – the sequel

If you’re a fan of Tony Bourdain, you’re familiar with the term “food porn.” Food is his first love and he’s never held back his true feelings toward, well, pretty much everything, but mostly FOOD. As a woman who LOVES to eat (I so wish I loved to cook nearly as much), I can tell you that there are plenty of similarities between food and sex. Tony’s been there before (in a previous episode), but it’s been a while. So he returns to his favorite subject with the help of some friends, and what would a show about ANY kind of porn be without the inimitable Ron Jeremy? Yes….

Just a couple of weeks ago, Tony visited his favorite place on earth and he’s back for more. It’s Hanoi, Vietnam for more wet and steamy Pho – complete with hot noodles, magical broth distilled from bones and marrow and a choice of meats. Next it’s on to Daniel Boloud’s Bar Boloud for charcuterie (other than the pate, I’m not a fan).

You’ll continue to recognize some of the places on his pilgrimage and Salumeria Rossi in New York is one of them. Wonderful cured meat, cured perfectly by Cesare Casella. Mortadella with pistachio, smoked speck, porketta, lardo and a variety of prosciuttos – yes, this is a fetish that I can get in to.. Tony follows this up with a truly wonderful sushi dinner at Sushi Yasuda with Chef Yasuda himself.

But, what would an episode about food porn be without…..MEAT! Tony has to be patient, because the meat needs to rest before he ravages some steak with Michael Lomanaco at Porterhouse. He follows is up with a night on the town…MANHATTAN that it.  You know, that drink with bourbon, sweet vermouth and a splash of bitters that your mom used to drink back in the day? Yes, Tony experiences the classics  – the Manhattan, the Negroni and the Sidecar, all mixed by Dale Degroff.

Tony will also be visiting RUB BBQ in NYC, Daniel Boloud at DBGB, enjoy chocolate with Jacque Torres and finally finish up with some seafood (and cheese) and of course caviar and champagne (oh yes – I feel it now)!

I’ll be sitting in front of the television with a LARGE plate in my lap on Monday at 10 PM watching Tony on The Travel Channel. Care for seconds?
