Food allergies are no fun

Food allergies just seem to take the fun out of having a treat. My nephew Phillip has to sit ALONE in the cafeteria at school, in case that other kids sitting with him may have something made of nuts. Cookies, cakes and treats are something that unless his mom stayed up baking all night, he’s just not getting. You never know if the cookies made without peanuts were mixed or baked next to a vat of something that had peanut oil in it or some other nut product that would send him straight into anaphylactic shock.

I hadn’t realized how widespread the allergy epidemic is. Did you know that One in every17 children under the age of 3 and 2.2 MILLION school-aged kids have some form of food allergy? That’s a whole lot of kids going without something YUMMY.

Those kids are now Home Free. Home Free? Yup – Chocolate Chip Cookies, Oatmeal Cookies, Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies even Coffee Cakes are now available from HomeFree, an all organic company that specializes in delicious treats that kids with food allergies can enjoy along with everyone else.

  • Peanut Free
  • Tree Nut Free
  • Egg Free
  • Dairy Free

…and the only SOY that they use is Soy Lecithin and of course they are made with no trans-fats, cholesterol or ANYTHING artificial. The cookies are made with 100% Whole Grains (but you’d never know it by the flavor).

How do they taste? Not bad. I’m used to the “real deal” and I tore into the box of mini-chocolate chip cookies that they sent. They tasted just like the cookies my mom used to buy for us at the grocery store when I was young. Crispy and full of rich chocolate chips, I actually finished the box (with help of course) in a couple of days. Mr. S. is more of an oatmeal cookie type and he got excited when he felt how soft and chewy they were (he hates hard cookies & I LOVE them).

All of their cookies and coffee cakes can be purchased online including individually wrapped cookies that are perfect for school lunches or summer camp. Now I can have my neices and nephews over to the house and not have to worry about what to give them.
