Are you inspired by the fashions that we’re seeing this week during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week? While the couture dresses may be a little hefty for my budget, I’ve been keeping a watchful eye on my favorite accessories. This season we’re seeing color blocking from Max Azria, beautiful floral patterns from Rodarte and Proenza Schouler, all beautiful. But, it’s those great pieces of handmade jewelry making bold statements that I’m most interested in.
In a couple of months finding a knock-off of a 20’s inspired dress will be easy, but if you want the looks RIGHT NOW, it’s as simple as accessorizing a dress or blouse that you already own with a statement piece around your neck, on your wrist or dropping from your earlobes.
Personally, I’m updating my look this year by going back to the late 60’s early 70’s. I’m looking for big bold turquoise necklaces, wood and organic looking bracelets and feathers (although I’m staying away from the large feather earrings because of my height). I love nothing more than browsing online at stores like Bottica jewelry and others who seem to be one step ahead of the trends this year, making it easy to find just what I want.
My signature has always been either a black dress, or black and white stripes. This year I’m updating it with bolder colors, larger pieces of jewelry and FUN pieces. I’ll be adding shoes in color as well.
What fashions have you been inspired by this year? Are you updating your wardrobe with any items that you’ve seen on the runways in New York?
