I’ll be 70 in mid-February and I can attest to the fact that we might have a few more wrinkles and maybe a couple of gray hairs (or if you’re like me, you have a FULL head of gray), but who cares? The truth is, that it doesn’t have to SUCK. As long as you are embracing the magic of this chapter and living your best life, it can actually be okay (I think it’s MORE than okay). And you know what the key is? You aren’t going to be surprised by what I have to say…

Alright, I know we’re not all gym rats, but staying active is like the fountain of youth. It doesn’t have to be all squats and burpees—just a daily walk, some gentle yoga, or even dancing around the living room to your favorite tunes. Trust me; your body will thank you for keeping it groovin’! My next endeavor will be learning to West Coast Swing (hubby refuses to go, so if you’d like to be my dance partner, let me know).
2. Feed Your Body, Feed Your Soul:
Eating healthy doesn’t mean saying goodbye to flavor. Load up on colorful fruits and veggies, sprinkle in some whole grains, and don’t forget your protein pals. And hey, the occasional treat is totally allowed—life’s too short to skip dessert! It’s about balance and not restrictions.
3. Hydration Station:
This may be the MOST important tip that I can think of. Water is basically our body’s superhero. It keeps everything running smoothly, from digestion to skin elasticity. I have friends who tell me they feel AWFUL and I always ask them how much water they’re drinking. The answer is usually – um, not much. So, let’s raise our glasses to hydration! Cheers!
4. Beauty Sleep Isn’t a Myth:
Remember when pulling an all-nighter was a breeze? Yeah, those days are behind us. Quality sleep is like hitting the reset button for our bodies. Create a cozy bedtime routine, invest in a comfy mattress, and let those Zzzs work their magic.
5. Stress Less, Laugh More:
Life’s too short to sweat the small stuff. Stress ages us faster than a time machine at warp speed. Find your zen—whether it’s through meditation, reading, or watching hilarious cat videos. Laughter really is the best medicine. FYI, I’d rather laugh so hard that I pee my pants than stay all bottled up and angry.
6. Social Butterflies Unite:
Friends, family, neighbors—surround yourself with positivity. Social connections boost mental well-being and create a support system that’s better than any anti-aging cream. My friends and I get together for a show now and then or for our infamous “driveway parties” where there’s music, BYO drinks, food, and maybe even a game of cornhole.
7. Embrace Change and New Adventures:
Change is the only constant, right? Instead of dreading it, let’s embrace it. Pick up a new hobby, travel to a place you’ve never been, or finally start that book you’ve been meaning to write. Keep those neurons firing and the excitement alive!
