It’s no secret that I worked in the coffee business for years. I came to the business because I love coffee. It’s one of those foods that is a virtual celebration for the senses. The intoxicating aroma, the warmth as you take your first sip, the rich flavor and the caffeine buzz are what first brought me to the business. Over the years I learned a LOT about what goes in to buying, roasting and brewing my favorite drink. Still, that first sip of the day always made me smile.
It’s not just me either, I can think of PLENTY of my friends (including bloggers) who feel like a stop for a cup of coffee puts a smile on their faces. The holiday season can be rather trying, as there is just SO much to do, that we need to take a minute to smile.
Did you know that in a recent study by Kelton Research that
- 87% of those surveyed that being with loved ones as the most smile-inducing activity this holiday season
- 88% admit they smile more when giving – rather than receiving – holiday gifts
- Almost half (42%) of them would like to have a warm cup of coffee during the holiday season with their significant other as well as their best friend (18%), parent (15%), or sibling (8%).
When my friend Ava (Broad “A” from The Review Broads) first moved to Salt Lake City, she had culture shock. She was used to a coffee shop on every corner. So, for her first Christmas there I sent her a gift basket of her FAVORITE Dunkin’ Donuts coffee. Ben (Bro’ B) got a refillable Dunkin’ Donuts card to help him through his college days (he’s since graduated). I just LOVE sharing smiles, even when I’m not there to see them.
In these last CRAZY days before the holiday, don’t forget to take a little time for yourself to relax and SMILE. Scheduling a half hour to sit with a friend and enjoy some Dunkin’ Donuts coffee is a great way to do just that.

I agree. I'm a coffee-a-holic. That's how I got into my career. I spent too much time in coffee shops, ended up working for the coffee company.
