There are cruise ships that simply take you from one destination to another. And some ships that feel like a destination in their own right.
So when I heard that Celebrity had completely revitalized the Solstice and was sending her to Alaska this summer, I immediately felt that little spark of excitement that I get when I really want to experience something new. This May, I’ll be sailing on board the Solstice on the Hubbard Glacier itinerary, and the idea of experiencing a class of ship I already love, but now reimagined from bow to stern, feels a little like reconnecting with an old friend who suddenly shows up with a great new wardrobe and an attitude to match.
That’s right, the ship that once defined an entire generation of Celebrity cruising has officially entered a new era.
And honestly. I’m counting the days.

I love the Retreat
A Ship That Helped Define Modern Celebrity Cruising
When the Solstice first launched, she represented a turning point for Celebrity. The Solstice Series ships brought a more contemporary, design-forward approach to cruising. Think elegant spaces, a focus on wellness, sophisticated dining, and those thoughtful touches that made everything feel just a little more elevated.
Now, Celebrity has taken that original concept and refreshed it for a new generation of travelers.
The revitalized Celebrity Solstice debuted in March 2026, unveiling eight completely new experiences across dining, entertainment, outdoor living, and wellness. The goal wasn’t to erase what made the ship special. It was to enhance it.
And from what I’ve seen so far, they did exactly that.

Sunset Park. The Outdoor Space I’m Most Excited About
One of the biggest additions is Sunset Park, a brand-new outdoor destination at the very top of the ship.
Imagine a wide-open deck designed not just for lounging. But for actually spending time outdoors throughout the day. There will be yoga classes, lawn games, live music, and private cabanas. All with sweeping ocean views.
And since I’ll be sailing through Alaska. I already know where I’ll be when the scenery starts rolling by.
This kind of space feels especially perfect for Alaska sailings. When glaciers, mountains, and wildlife are your backdrop, having an outdoor venue designed specifically for taking it all in feels like the perfect move.
Sunset Park also includes the new Sunset Park Café, which will serve casual breakfast and lunch options like pastries, sandwiches, wraps, and charcuterie boards. In other words. The kind of relaxed dining you want when you’re not ready for a formal restaurant but still want something delicious.
And of course, just steps away is the expanded Sunset Bar. Which I suspect may become my personal sunset-watching headquarters, drink in hand, looking out at the glacier.

Two New Restaurants Worth Booking Immediately
Food has always been one of Celebrity’s strengths. So hearing about the two new dining venues immediately caught my attention.
The first is Trattoria Rossa, a brand-new Italian restaurant concept for Celebrity.
This isn’t just pasta and pizza. The menu focuses on Roman and Southern Italian cuisine, including seafood dishes, classic meat preparations, and house-made pasta prepared daily. Even better, some dishes are prepared tableside, including Caesar salad and chicken parmesan. I have to admit that I’ve NEVER had chicken parmesan prepared tableside and there’s something about that little bit of theatrical dining that always makes dinner feel like an event.
The second new restaurant is Fine Cut Steakhouse, which fans of Celebrity’s Edge Series ships already know and love. The restaurant is known for its 30-day dry-aged steaks, fresh seafood, and elevated steakhouse classics.
If you’ve ever sailed with Celebrity before, you know the quality of their specialty restaurants is exceptional. Bringing Fine Cut to the Solstice feels like a natural upgrade, and yes. I fully expect my husband will want at least one steak dinner to happen during this cruise.

Boulevard Lounge
New Entertainment Spaces for Nights at Sea
Cruises are never just about the destinations. The evenings onboard are part of the magic and the Solstice now has two brand new venues designed specifically for socializing and entertainment.
The Boulevard Lounge is a 125-seat venue offering everything from piano bar sing-alongs and karaoke to interactive game shows. It sounds like the kind of place where the night might start quietly with a cocktail. Then end with a room full of people singing along to something from the 80s.

Then there’s The Parlor, a relaxed gaming and sports lounge with billiards, darts, board games, and big-screen sports viewing. Think comfortable seating, craft cocktails, and shareable comfort food with your favorite team playing on the TVs.
Menu highlights include things like shrimp mac and cheese, burgers, desserts, and even over-the-top milkshakes. In other words. The perfect place to unwind after a long day of exploring Ketchikan.

New Theatre Shows That Span Decades of Music
Celebrity also introduced two new production shows in the ship’s theater. Smoke and Ivories celebrates the music of the 1950s with piano performances, live vocals, and acrobatics. A blend of classic music and theatrical storytelling.
Then there’s Rockumentary, which recreates iconic rock performances across multiple decades and has been a favorite when I’ve seen it before.
And if that weren’t enough. There’s also a candlelit concert experience where string musicians perform rock classics surrounded by soft candlelight.
I love it when cruise lines experiment with different kinds of performances. It makes every night feel a little different.

Stateroom Upgrades Throughout the Ship
Another major update. Every single stateroom on the ship has been refreshed!
The ship now has 1,479 cabins, including 54 newly added staterooms and four entirely new categories. But what caught my eye most were the upgrades to AquaClass, which happens to be one of my favorite ways to cruise. As someone who has spent plenty of time enjoying Celebrity’s wellness offerings. The AquaClass perks always appeal to me. On the revitalized Solstice, these cabins now feature spa-inspired amenities, including aromatherapy diffusers, massaging shower heads, premium robes, and even a pillow menu.
And of course, AquaClass guests also receive access to Blu, my favorite wellness-focused restaurant, along with the Persian Garden thermal spa. For me, Blu has a clean, intimate feel about it with menu choices that range from healthy to indulgent.
If you’ve never tried the Persian Garden. It’s one of the most relaxing places on the ship. I love nothing more than grabbing a couple of towels and stretching out on a thermal lounger while looking out at the sea.

Why I’m Especially Excited to Sail Her to Alaska
While the ship itself is newly refreshed, the itinerary might be just as exciting.
The Solstice will be sailing through Alaska this summer, including itineraries featuring the Hubbard Glacier, one of the most spectacular glaciers in North America. Unlike many glaciers that are slowly retreating. Hubbard Glacier is actually advancing. That means when ships approach it, the towering wall of ice feels incredibly close and dramatic. Watching enormous chunks of ice calve into the water while surrounded by snow-covered mountains is one of those moments that reminds you just how powerful nature really is, and experiencing that from a beautifully designed ship with brand new outdoor spaces. That’s the kind of travel experience I look forward to all year.
A New Chapter for a Classic Ship
The relaunch of the Celebrity Solstice also marks the beginning of a larger revitalization across the Solstice Series fleet. These ships helped define modern premium cruising when they first launched. Now, Celebrity is bringing them into a new era. For longtime fans of the brand. It’s exciting to see a familiar favorite get this kind of attention, and for travelers who have never sailed her before, this might be the perfect time to experience the Solstice for the first time.
As for me. I’ll be standing on deck somewhere between Vancouver and Alaska this Mat, watching glaciers drift past and wondering how a ship I already loved somehow managed to become even better.
Sometimes the best journeys are the ones that bring you back to a place you already know.
Only this time. Everything feels brand new.
