There’s a new proposal in front of the Department of Transportation that could increase the amount of money you’d get if you get bumped from your flight. This includes VOLUNTARY bumping as well.
According to a story in today’s USA TODAY, travelers who can’t get on to their booked flights would get up to $650 for a short delay and up to $1300 for those who have to wait a LONGER time for a new flight. This is GREAT news for those who don’t mind taking a later flight to or from their destination.
There are a few other interesting proposals by the DOT as well including
- Compensating bumped passengers who are flying on frequent flier miles
- Refunds for all airline tickets within 24 hours of purchase
- Posted ticket prices to include all taxes and fees
- and more
