It’s hard to believe that school is beginning soon. Florida seems to start much earlier than it does up north, with most schools in my area going back mid-August. While Ben is all grown up, some of my favorite memories were of us spending those days before school begins each Fall, shopping for the clothes he thought were COOL, buying that new backpack, getting all of the notebooks, pens (and eventually calculators) ready for back to school. It was always bittersweet, as we were still enjoying those last days of summer at the beach or on the boat, yet knowing that we were back to schedules that included sports, classes, homework and more in the days to come.
This year the Boys and Girls Club of America (BGCA) and Disney have partnered to launch the Tools for Back to School program. This online pop-quiz style game, lets you help the BGCA, because supplies are donated to BGCA for every correct answer you score (plus some “extra credit” time). You have fun, and the Boys & Girls Clubs get much needed supplies. I’d say that’s a win-win situation!
You can “get ready” for heading back into the classroom on the BGCA site with tip sheets such as:
- Time management tips
- Powerhour hints for parents
- Think college
- Helping children set goals
- Be ready parent tips
Truthfully,Ben & I both could have used these time management tips:
In addition, JC Penney has partnered with the Boys & Girls Clubs!
Simply join jcp cares and shop at JC Penney for the rest of August. They’ll allow you to round up your purchase at the register and the additional money will go to help kids all over the United States take part in programs including arts, education, sports and leadership.
The Boys & Girls Club have been around for over 150 years allowing kids to have a safe place to learn and grow into responsible adults. They run summer and after-school programs as an alternative to being home alone or hanging out on the streets. Come join in this fun way to support community clubs in your area, by taking the Tools for Back to School quiz today!
I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by MomCentral Consulting on behalf of Boys and Girls Club. I received a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.
