You’ll rarely see CD reviews here on Champagne Living. The reason is, that I can’t STOMACH much of the garbage that I’m sent to listen to, that I never make it through the entire CD. Most of them make better coasters to put under my chardonnay.
The exception has been Bible Belt by singer/songwriter Diane Birch. I’m an “old school” type. I still put on James Taylor and Carole King. My husband makes fun of my music, because I LOVE female vocalists best of all. Yes, there are new artists that I adore (and yes they are primarily female), but I consistently go back to my “old standards.”
Diane Birch is like an old soul with a new voice. She has been compared to Carole King, Amy Winehouse and Linda Ronstadt (although frankly, I don’t get the Linda Ronstadt comparison). I’m going to add Mary Chapin Carpenter to that list of women that she reminds me of. With the earthy sounds similar Winehouse and the phrasing that reminds me of King and Carpenter – Diane Birch actually has produced a sound that when combined, is uniquely her own.
The best thing is that although Bible Belt is her debut album, it was produced by the cream of the crop in the recording industry. Just listen to Fire Escape and you’ll get the feeling that she’s been at this for a lifetime.

My favorites vary with mood, but right now it's probably the BeeGees.
New stuff? Amy Winehouse, sometimes.

My all time fav is Frank Sinatra. I was performing at a b-day party in Chicago years ago (I used to sing italian opera) and I got to use the same exact mic that Frank used years before! That is something I will never forget. I would love to win this cd – you dont mention if she is Christian or if that is just the name of her cd tho' 🙂
My favorites: Bob Dylan, The Beatles. Please accept my entry. Thank you.
Definitely Barbra Streisand – I saw her in concert for the first time two years ago, and she hasn't lost a bit of her vocal power and interpretive ability!
I would love to win this. I love Third Day. Thank you for the chance
i want to win
micheal bolton is my all time fav. love his voice
Would have to go with Barbra Streisand as my all-time favorite vocalist, with her newer counterpart Linda Eder being a close second. Thanks!
My favorite all-time band would probably have to be The Beatles, whose songs are timeless, cross several different genres and sounds, and have really influenced countless modern bands with their signature style. Thanks for the giveaway – I saw Diane Birch open for another singer, James Morrison, a few weeks back, and she's just terrific!
As far as orchestras go, I have a soft spot for the Pittsburgh Symphony, since I grew up near the 'burgh and attended many concerts there. Now that I'm living in Ohio, Cleveland's orchestra may be gaining ground, but I'll still cast my vote for Pittsburgh.
I enjoy the Gaither Vocal Band because they remind me of all the old songs of the church but also sing newer songs that encorporate the know generation.
My current favorite band would have to be the British band Keane – I love their heartfelt melodies, and to me the lead singer has the best voice in rock today!
Mark Lowrey is my all time favorite. He is so funny & has a wonderful voice to boot! My favorite band is Lord Song – they tour with Mark for hit "Be the Miracle" tour this year.
Diana Krall is one of my many all-time favorites.
Having just rewatched her recent concert special, I have to reiterate that my favorite all-time singer is Barbra Streisand, for the emotion she puts into every line of a song and the sheer volume of her catalog!
Count me in again please 🙂 06/22/09

Enya is my very favorite!
Another singer who's quickly becoming one of my favorites is Adele, who has a great, soulful, throwback sound (which would also describe Diana Birch!)
I hope I win
My fav was Michael Jackson
In honor of his passing, I will say that Michael Jackson was definitely my favorite singer as a kid, and "Thriller" remains in my top 5 favorite albums of all time.
