A Flute for Champagne for one our readers.

It’s no secret that I LOVE to shop. It’s also no secret that I LOVE nice things.

I have a theory about what to buy, what not to buy and how much to spend on something. I’m VERY frugal when it comes to the day to day items that we use….especially disposable items like food, cleaning supplies, etc. I’m also frugal when I can purchase THE SAME item for LESS through a discounter.

When it comes to things that give me pleasure I tend NOT to be quite as frugal.

WHY the double standard? Well, if I purchase something that will give me years of pleasure or something that makes me smile every time I look at it, then it is WORTH so much more to me. For example. I could buy a cheap wine glass at the dollar store. Yes, it’s functional. Yes it’s only $1.00. They are made poorly and my $1.00 wine glass will inevitably break within a month or two.

I could buy a set of these FABULOUS ittalia Aarne Champagne Glasses and have them for the rest of my life. I’d feel like I’m living in the lap of luxury EVERY time I used them and they’d put a smile on my face. When I cost average the pleasure that they bring, then spending more wins.
Granted, this is not something that I’d do every day, but I find that these investments that I make are worthwhile.

  144. I would definately get the Naturepedic Quilted Deluxe Organic Cotton Mattress. The springs in our matress are broken and sleeping is not so comfortable, we've been shopping around for mattresses and an environmentally supportive and comfortable mattress would be awesome!
