Many of us remember to give and help others during the holiday season. Unfortunately, people and the organizations who help them need your help YEAR ROUND. I consider myself VERY fortunate, that I’m able to live the GOOD LIFE, but I know that so many others around me are in dire need.
The Union Square Restaurant Group is sponsoring a program that is both heartwarming and tummy warming at the same time. From NOW until the end of March they are donating $2.00 to City Harvest for EACH BOWL OF CHICKEN SOUP that you purchase at one of their restaurants. So, PLEASE if you live in the New York area and are planning on dining at one of their wonderful eateries. Think twice before placing your order and order the CHICKEN SOUP. You’ll be having a GREAT bowl of soup and helping to feed someone at the same time.
Danny Meyer has challenged the chefs at each of his Union Square Hospitality Group restaurants to create their own favorite chicken soup for a special promotion to raise money for City Harvest. Beginning Monday, February 23, each restaurant will serve its chef’s signature chicken soup through the rest of winter, and for each bowl served, will donate $2 to City Harvest to help feed New York City’s hungry.
Participating Restaurans include:
- Union Square Cafe
- Grammercy Tavern
- Eleven Madison Park
- Tabla
- Blue Smoke & Jazz Standard
- Shake Shack
- The Modern
- Cafe 2
- Terrace 5
- Hudson Yards
While we’re on the subject of giving. Anjie the Frugal Freelancer has listed a program that’s being sponsored by the Perry Ellis Company. The company has put out the call for volunteers to “Roll Up their Sleeves” and in response are prepared to reward you with a dress shirt. Simply donate 20 hours of your time doing public service for the charitable organization of your choice by May 20, 2009. You’ll find all of the details at the Perry Ellis Website.
