Let me tell you something that most people who know me would never guess: I am in pain. Almost constantly.
Nearly 30 years ago, I was in an accident that left me unable to walk for almost a decade. Ten years. And while I’ve come a long way from that, and trust me, I will celebrate every single step of that journey, the truth is that the pain never really left. It just moved in permanently and made itself comfortable in my hips, my lower back, my knees, and all the way down to my feet.
From the outside? You’d never know. I walk everywhere. I exercise. I have been known to party until the music stops. But behind the scenes, or more accurately, behind closed doors at home, I’m dealing with a level of discomfort that I typically only share with my husband. (Who, bless him, has developed an impressive ability to tune me out.)
So when I say a shoe changed my life at home, I need you to understand the weight of that statement.

Enter KURU. And More Specifically, the MOMENT.
I’ve tried recovery slides, supportive sandals, and “orthopedic” house shoes that the internet has recommended to someone who Googles “why do my feet hurt the second I stand up in the morning?” Most of them are fine. Some of them are foam blocks that just sort of absorb you and leave you feeling like you’re sinking into a cloud that has absolutely no interest in supporting your joints (like a pillow that feels good at first, but you wake up with a sore neck in the morning, yeah, I have that too).
The KURU MOMENT is not that.
What KURU has created is a recovery slide that actually recovers something. Their patented KURUSOLE technology (which is the real star of the show) cradles your heel rather than just cushioning it. Believe me, there’s a difference, and if you have chronic pain anywhere from your lower back downward, you already know exactly what that difference feels like. The updated design features increased TPU height for what they call dynamic heel cushioning, and I call “oh, that’s what my feet have been asking for.“
The footbed is their softest yet, but, and this is important, it’s not memory foam. It doesn’t sink and stay. It’s responsive. It gives you back something with every step instead of just absorbing the impact and calling it a day.
At 7.4 ounces, it’s also the lightest shoe in their lineup, which matters more than people realize when you’re already managing pain. There’s zoned contouring and texture on the footbed that engages different parts of your foot for better proprioception, which is just a fancy way of saying your foot actually knows where it is in space, which helps everything from your ankles to your knees to your hips work the way they’re supposed to.

The hook and loop closure, synthetic and EVA construction, and 12mm heel-to-toe drop with built-in orthotic so ALL of the right things. All the things your podiatrist has been suggesting for years, except these actually look like something you’d want to wear.
About That Color Situation
I got mine in Aqua Frost, part of the new limited edition Gummy Collection from Kuru, and I have zero regrets. It’s the kind of color that makes you genuinely happy to look down at your feet, which, when your feet have been the source of pain for the better part of three decades, is not a small thing.
But if slides aren’t your moment, KURU also offers a full collection of their fun gummy-inspired Sweet Relief collection with bright colors, tangy energy, and KURU’s legendary support. All of them feel like summer decided to show up specifically for your feet. Honestly, the whole lineup looks like a vacation.

I Wore Them to the Grocery Store (should I run and hide because I said it out loud???)
No judgment. I’m standing firm on this one.
When something makes your feet feel this good, you don’t leave them at the door. You take them with you. To the kitchen. To the mailbox. To the produce aisle, where you will stand longer than you planned because you’re not in a hurry to stop walking in these things.
If you’re someone who manages chronic pain from an old injury, from years of standing, from just having feet that have done a lot of living, the KURU MOMENT is the kind of find that makes you want to call people. It’s not a miracle. The pain doesn’t disappear. But the moments between the pain? They get a whole lot better.
And at this point in my life, I’ll take every good moment I can get. Now I’m off to polish off that bag of Better Sour Pomegranate Apricot Gummy Stars they sent in the box!!
